When inquiring with Ra Chad, Ku Chenpo said, "It is all clear. Before Jowo (Atisha) came, I had not heard of things like generating aspiration bodhicitta." All those gathered, small and medium, are practicing. Extensive explanations are also found in the Abhidhamma Pitaka and the Vinaya texts. The two teachings of Shantideva belonging to the scope of Entering the Path, or the Bodhisattva-bhumi, or the Ornament of the Sutras, etc., are very extensive. The smallest text is the Twenty Verses, but it is also more extensive than this. The activities of this lifetime are sufficient with just aspiration and below. Even if one takes up Entering the Path, it is difficult to accomplish. Yerpa-wa said, "The faults of having attained are worse than the faults of not having attained." It is said that in this lifetime, one should diligently make aspirations and not let them decline, and study the precepts of Entering the Path to the best of one's ability. For those things that are beyond one's ability, cultivate faith. If one makes aspirations to be born in future lives and not decline, then in future lives, Entering the Path will naturally become stable. One cannot complete the bodhisattva's training in one lifetime. After they finished explaining aspiration, the second is Entering the Path along with the precepts, showing the relationship between aspiration and entering, and explaining entering itself, these two. The first is: 'The mind of entering, without the vows that are its essence, a true aspiration will not increase. Those who wish to increase the vows of perfect enlightenment, therefore, must strive to take this up.' It is said that, just as it was taught at the beginning, by studying aspiration and the precepts well, compassion for sentient beings will greatly increase, and therefore one will be eager to attain Buddhahood for the sake of sentient beings. And knowing that one must enter the cause, one goes without hesitation, the mind of entering arises, one resolves to enter the cause, which is the essence of bodhicitta, takes the vows of a bodhisattva, and studies its precepts. Otherwise, one cannot truly increase aspiration to perfect enlightenment for the benefit of others, and ultimately attain Buddhahood. Therefore, the essence of aspiration is the vows to resolve to perfect enlightenment, and to increase them to the utmost. Jowo (Atisha) said: Because it is born of the nature of enlightenment, it is the

The Mind-Nature proponents say that, as stated by Master Singhabhadra, they wish to continuously increase the three bodhicittas of the Buddha-ground, or as it says, "with true aspiration," aspiration is only a commitment to the result. Entering the path is a commitment to the cause, and without practice, mere aspiration cannot increase, nor can the result be obtained. Therefore, the nature of aspiration itself is a commitment to the complete Bodhi result, and they wish to make the vow of discipline reach the ultimate in growth and perfection as before. Therefore, it is said that one must strive to take the Bodhisattva vows of entering the path. Some say that aspiration is the intermediate virtue, and entering the path is encompassed by discipline. Because the Maitreya lineage considers discipline itself to be the path, it is said, "On a white tree, there is no white mother and black son." Or recite the third line, "Complete Bodhi discipline," or combine "with discipline" with entering the path, wishing to make aspiration reach the ultimate in growth through discipline, therefore it is said that one must strive to take the path of entry. Sharawa the Great said that no matter how it is explained, it can fit the meaning. It is also said, "Wishing to increase the complete Bodhi aspiration," which also starts from the perspective of the result. Spuwa said that wishing to increase the aspiration Bodhicitta—the commitment to the result—to the ultimate, up to the Buddha-ground, therefore one must take the Bodhisattva vows of entering the path. No matter how it is explained, effort is mainly to strive to practice the mind, and also to strive from all aspects such as accumulating merit, Sharawa said. Second, explaining the path of entry itself, divided into: what is relied upon to take it, the ritual of how to take it, and the practice of how to learn after taking it. The first is further divided into a general explanation and an explanation of special differences. The first is: "Of the seven classes of individual liberation, Those who always possess other vows are good, They have a share in the Bodhisattva vows, Otherwise, there is no such declaration." As it is said, that is to say, the person who relies on entering the path must be one who possesses any of the seven classes of individual liberation and has obtained the aspiration mind without losing it. In general, a separate explanation of individual liberation is given.
