Those who sustain their lives with food, because they pursue tantra, aren't they only focusing on initiation? If one cannot uphold the Pratimoksha vows, one cannot uphold the tantric vows. Only from the Pratimoksha itself, without giving rise to the thought of concealing transgressions, can the precepts of training be given, and if they arise, one must rely on the four powers to exhaust the sins. Entering the secret mantra is one level stricter than the monastic vows. The benefits of tantra arise depending on the vows. Geshe Tonpa was meditating with his back to a pillar in the upper part of the temple. At that time, the practitioner Rinchen Lama and another person made jokes that Geshe could not hear. If he had heard, how would they dare to say it there? The gossip that the monks did not stop or punish spread. After Geshe heard it, his face became very unpleasant, and he said, "Now you are saying mantras very loudly, but for the Pratimoksha vows, it is only said that there is a possibility of breaking the vows, and most of the time it is not the case. For the Mahayana Paramita school, it is only said that there is no possibility of breaking the vows, and most of the time it is like that. For the Mahayana tantra, it is only said that there is a possibility of not breaking the vows." He said that the basis of everything is pure morality. For all schools of Pratimoksha and Mahayana Paramita, it is also necessary to have pure morality according to what each has promised. Entering the door of tantra also requires pure vows. Now, all the mantra practitioners are acting as if they are hiding something, so what benefits can they expect to receive? Ku's mouth said that putting things on a tripod and then throwing them away with black things, if you put the sound there, it will become like that. Having said these things, Sharawa said, "Among all the explanations of tantra in Tibet, I like the words of Atisha, 'Do not accept.' This sentence is very helpful for the understanding of the entire Dharma." The saying "The first Buddha," according to Sharawa the Great, is different from Kalachakra. Narthangpa Bhikshu Ratnakirti, with the flower of "Ornament of the Lamp for the Path," regarded the explanatory tantra of the Guhyasamaja as the intention and the proof, and explained that it was also the intention of the self-commentary. Third, even if these two initiations are not done, one has received the initiation of the master and has received the permission of the lama, and one's own master's...

If one possesses (the teacher's) merits, then engaging in the activities of a guru does not incur the fault of infringing upon the Dharma. The explanation for this is as follows: Listening to and expounding all tantras, as well as performing fire offerings, sacrifices, etc., the guru attains empowerment, and understanding this principle is without fault. It is said thus. That is to say, if one does not perform the secret and wisdom empowerments, is it thought that the door to the Dharma is closed, and listening to and expounding, etc., are not permissible? Any Bodhisattva who enters the door of mantra, listens to all the tantras himself, expounds them to others, performs fire offerings, sacrifices, and all the activities of a guru, including empowerment and consecration, even if he has not performed the above two empowerments, he has already obtained the guru's empowerment, received the guru's permission, and understands the ten principles, etc., possesses the merits of a guru, or understands the suchness of all dharmas, and generates the wisdom of the path of seeing, then engaging in the above-mentioned activities of a guru will never be disallowed, nor will it be a fault of infringing upon the Dharma. Regarding this, Sharawa said: I myself do not know how to perform this kind of sacrifice. Generally speaking, to engage in the activities of a guru, one must obtain the guru's empowerment, understand the ten principles, etc., possess the merits of a guru, and obtain the guru's permission. Regarding empowerment, initially it is only showing the face of the mandala, scattering flowers, etc., there seem to be some rough rituals. It is said that by obtaining the higher empowerment of the four classes of tantras, one can perform the lower and lower activities, but not the other way around. Understanding this principle refers to the suchness of the mandala, as well as the suchness of the deity, mantra, vajra, bell, etc., the ten principles, or understanding the suchness of all dharmas. If this is the case, it means generating the path of seeing. Previously, the practitioner Gyamon asked Sampawa for some outer tantras of the Nyingma school, asking if he had performed the stages. He replied that he had not. He asked: I have not performed the stages, can I explain the mantra? I will ask Atisha. The next day, he came to Kadampa, and I asked him, even if you perform the stages, you cannot understand the stages of Tibet. Because you have deep faith in Tibet, you are the mantra's
