From the Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior it says: "The virtuous friend is always one who is skilled in the meaning of the Great Vehicle, whose conduct is that of a supreme Bodhisattva, and who does not abandon it even for the sake of his life." Or, as this very treatise explains, one who abides in the position of a Bodhisattva must be qualified to bestow these vows. Regarding the selection of a Vajrayana master, there is the saying, "The master is equal to all Buddhas," or as the Vajra Dakini Tantra says: "The teacher has abandoned worldly dharmas, is thoroughly familiar with the ten aspects of that, knows the union of mantra and tantra, and is skilled in the work of drawing mandalas; know that to be a teacher." It is necessary to have a vajra master who possesses such qualities. In particular, when requesting meditation instructions, it is impossible to do without a reliable source. Even if you encounter a reliable source, you also need to accumulate merit. If you have not accumulated merit, and only have a semblance of faith, following after so-called yogis, whether they are in the form of monks or have hair, you will inevitably be confused with the Brahmin of Mitra. Now, when we people, who are given many names such as Sbreng, ask these people for instructions, we must find someone whom the student cannot fully grasp. If you ask someone whom the student can grasp, you will get nothing. It is said in the scriptures that one should not attribute personal faults to the Dharma, but nowadays it seems to be the opposite. People also do not seem to understand the need for a reliable source. It is said that those who are in the presence of Putowa, even if they do not consider his words to be reliable, only find fault with his titles. They only consider Geshe Tonpa's words to be reliable, and they use examples such as "eating dog meat like a father" and "Gaden I am not sure, but my father might be Riwoche Machen Pomra." They say, "I am not sure, but that old lay practitioner only said that, and even though that word is pleasing, only someone like that can help you." If you are always finding fault with the master, you will get nothing. Like the eye of a Kham blacksmith's needle, you need someone who learns from his father's footsteps. Third, regarding the necessity of benefiting from stuttering: In the Indian language, the word Bodhi means

In Tibetan, "Bodhi" is called "Jangchub." "Pathalamgi" is translated as "Lamp of Wisdom." Sharawo said: In the past, there were more than twenty translators of kings and ministers. Listening to the Panditas explaining Sanskrit scriptures, even understanding a little bit is very helpful. Considering this, Geshe Dromtonpa also said that for all grains and grapes, there is a saying in Indian writing that means this. He had a disciple who said something that could not be expressed in Tibetan. Putowa said: At first, I thought he was talking about some profound methods. Later, when he said it the same way, I understood what he meant, felt benefited a lot, and was very grateful to him, but he ran away. Karmapa and Nyangpo Darma Bodhi and others all did "Vivardha" (Sanskrit, Devanagari: विवर्ध, Roman transliteration: vivardha, literal Chinese meaning: increase, development) to all these written in Indian language, so the translators also knew a lot. It is said that Guru Lotsawa only did "Vivardha" (Sanskrit, Devanagari: विवर्ध, Roman transliteration: vivardha, literal Chinese meaning: increase, development) to these, and became a translator. Now we don't have such benefits. To achieve omniscience, it is impossible to use our language that is like ghost talk. In the future, we must encounter the Buddha's teachings. Now that we sow the seeds, in the future we will be able to obtain the ability to uphold the precepts and have faith in the Mahayana Dharma, thereby obtaining a human body. If we encounter the Buddha's teachings, it will become the cause of easy understanding, and it will also become the condition of encountering. If so, isn't it true that the Buddha speaks the Dharma in all languages, as it is said in the "Samantabhadra's Conduct and Vows"? Generally speaking, it is so, but when explaining the Mahayana Dharma, only Sanskrit can be used to explain the path of seeing that realizes the basis of the Prajnaparamita Mother. In the future, the Blessed One Maitreya will also be in this place, using these names, words, and letters to explain the Prajnaparamita Mother, and all the Buddhas of the Good Kalpa are the same. All the Buddhas of the ten directions also use these names and so on to explain the Prajnaparamita Mother, and these will appear in the minds of the sons of gods. Geshe Dromtonpa said: When Dombiwa relied on Naropa's blessings to obtain special qualities, a mantra practitioner thought that Dombiwa did not even know the Sanskrit alphabet before, but had faith in the god Shankara (Sanskrit, Devanagari: शंकर, Roman transliteration: śaṅkara, literal Chinese meaning: Shankara).
