To place beings in the state of Buddhahood, which is permanent liberation from suffering, one must know that one needs to attain it oneself. Therefore, vowing to attain the wisdom that knows all fruits by means of "ferrying across those who have not been ferried across," etc., is the generation of aspirational bodhicitta. Regarding this, Potowa said, "If you generate bodhicitta towards a Buddha, you will become a Buddha. It is not certain for a Bodhisattva. It does not increase for an ordinary being." Then, one might think, is it meaningless to generate it towards an ordinary being? It is not so. It is meaningful to generate it after meditating on the concept of Buddha, and it will also increase. Then, if it is real, what is the need to meditate? If it is not real, what is the benefit of meditating? In reality, meditation is necessary because there is no difference between self-nature and the nature of reality. The cause, the mind of enlightenment, is the same. The activities, such as teaching the Dharma, are the same. Therefore, generate bodhi with pure morality. If you have precepts that are not diminished, it is said to be the same as non-retrogression. The meaning of the four vows, such as "ferrying across those who have not been ferried across," is related to the four fruits of the Hearers: When one attains the Stream-enterer, one transcends the world. When one attains the Once-returner, one is liberated from most of the afflictions of the desire realm. When one attains the Non-returner, one abandons all those afflictions and thus breathes out. When one attains Arhatship, one transcends all the afflictions of the three realms, which are like a place of sorrow. According to the Great Vehicle, when one attains the Path of Seeing, one transcends the world. When one attains the seventh bhumi, one is liberated from the bonds of signs. From the three stages of fruition, accomplishment is spontaneous from the absence of signs, and thus one breathes out. In the Buddha-ground, one transcends all that should be abandoned, which is like a place of sorrow. Therefore, one must benefit all Bodhisattvas. Regarding this, it is said that the three types of individuals should be placed in the three vehicles. Other rituals will become clear when one experiences the results of karma. Third, explaining the precepts after that. Potowa said, "Although practice comes before from the instructions, is speaking first what is called the order of speaking?" As he said, Sharawa the Great said, "Having generated bodhicitta in this way, one should train in five precepts: First, to train in constantly training the mind of enlightenment. Second, for the sake of desiring the essence of training, to constantly contemplate the benefits of the mind of enlightenment. Third, in order to generate the mind that has not arisen, and to prevent the mind that has arisen from diminishing and to increase it, to engage in the activities of accumulating the two accumulations.
