Connected to the wisdom and compassion of men and women, that non-dual wisdom is itself. This is also to be known from the guru's instructions. The taste of co-emergent nectar is the unmodified nature of mind. How is it shown? In an ordinary way, when mind and appearance co-arise, if one strives with reverence without being distracted by mindfulness, co-emergent wisdom will arise, without doubt. If one experiences unmodified awareness in secret ways, bliss, clarity, and non-thought will arise. By cultivating the thought of ordinary awareness with continuous mindfulness, one can blow away the dust-like body of discursive thoughts like wind blows away dust. Just as putting water into water, they will mix into the same taste; just as putting butter into butter. Mind and appearance are also like that. The mind with faults and virtues, no protector can depict. 'What is said means that they merge into one in a non-dual state, completely perfected in great bliss. These are to be experienced: first, to make awareness free from effort; then, to fully know its unbinding nature; and finally, mind is separated from thoughts, merely a description of the original state. The games I played, the children were exhausted, the source of fire is firewood, and the fire burns on the firewood.' What is said means to accomplish by means of being free from affirmation and negation. The cause of fire arising is firewood, and the fire that arises burns and incinerates the firewood. Similarly, these phenomena appearing in the mind arise, and these phenomena that arise dissolve into appearance. There is not even a particle to be meditated upon. These cannot be placed in a state. If one places the state that cannot be placed, that is the best. That meaning is the essence. What is called essence is knowing all outer and inner phenomena as mind, and without knowing. All appearances and existence are the Dharmakaya, the nature like the moon in water. Root consciousness meets with objects and passes away, mindfulness is the best reliance. The four actions are preliminary, mindfulness abides in suchness, regard mind itself as the guru, abandon negation, and speak as you please. This is what is called meaning. The Quintessence with Five Meanings Words of Dharma Lord Dagpo Lhaje (Gampopa), The Quintessence with Five Meanings. The quintessence instructions have five aspects: realization corresponds to view, practice corresponds to experience, conduct --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It possesses equality, possesses definitive understanding that eliminates faults, and possesses the instructions of the lineage. Realization and view possess two aspects: realizing that Buddhas and sentient beings are of one essence, like oil coming from sesame seeds; realizing that appearances and mind are inseparable, like water and ice. View is without desire. Meditation possessing experience is without bias, free from grasping, and cannot be encompassed by words or expressed. Experience is inexpressible. The external signs are abandoning the eight worldly concerns and having no distinction between meditative equipoise and post-meditation. Conduct possessing equal taste has three aspects: if there is no difference between appearances and clear light, that is the equal taste of realization; if there is no difference between meditative equipoise and post-meditation, that is the equal taste of equanimity; if there is no difference between afflictions and wisdom, that is the equal taste of experience. Definitive understanding that eliminates faults is: certainty that the Buddha exists within oneself, certainty that all phenomena are contained within the mind, certainty that samsara has no beginning or end, certainty that the result will arise within oneself. If one does not understand the meaning of having no reliance, one will be certain that samsara is suffering. The instructions of the lineage are: even though one realizes one's own mind as Buddha, one does not abandon the Vajra Master; even though one has no hope for results, one does not discontinue the practice of Dharma; even though all phenomena are contained within the mind, one does not slander the Dharma; even though one understands the meaning of equality, one should become accustomed to relying on solitary places; even though one has no doubts about samsara, one should avoid even the slightest negative actions; even though one realizes self and others as equal, one should generate great compassion for sentient beings; even though the result arises within oneself, one should align one's view and conduct with others. The Practice of Co-emergent Dharmakaya Homage to the venerable and precious Lamas! This is the teaching of Dharma Lord Dagpo Lhaje: The Practice of Co-emergent Dharmakaya. Homage to the Vajra Dakinis! With utmost reverence, I prostrate to the Lama, the precious one, the source of blessings, and all the assemblies of Yoginis and Dakinis! That which is called 'co-emergent' refers to the Dharmakaya; the co-emergent nature of mind refers to the Dharmakaya; the co-emergent appearance refers to the light of the Dharmakaya. How does it abide? Without the conceptual thoughts that cling to duality, one should abide in the original suchness. Abandon the mind that hopes for results, doubts samsara, and strives for equality; abandon the mind that is 'not anything'. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
