Imagine something that is not moved by the wind, and then let its image appear in a clean mirror, focusing awareness on the clear and unwavering image. This allows one to grasp the mind and contemplate in one's heart what that is. Secondly, to show how to grasp the mind: when the mind is dull, let it fall asleep; when the mind is scattered, let it scatter in various directions; when the mind is too focused, relax the awareness. If dull, relax, relax the body and awareness, wash the face; if scattered, relax the awareness, thinking, 'What do I have to scatter about?', and then gently release the awareness. If dullness or scattering arises again, cultivate and abide in joy and happiness during breaks in meditation or moments of activity. How is this known? It is as clear as 'a river flows continuously, a lamp flame burns steadily.' Thirdly, enhancing stability: similarly, understand this, and be free from all fabrication, slander, and concepts, which is the luminosity of Dharmata (ཆོས་ཉིད་, *dharmatā*, *dharmatā*, 法性); the unceasing clarity of non-conceptual awareness is the luminosity of mind nature. Awareness is free from elaboration, without difference, non-dual luminosity. Abide in this state without effort. This is called placing the non-dual luminosity of self-nature mind in its own place. Like this, after being aware of bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality, keep the body in the vajra posture without collapsing, and in the continuation of bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality, cast the gaze at the tip of the nose, open the eyes, and observe one's own appearances and existence. The object of the eye is form, the object of the ear is sound, the object of the nose is smell, the object of the tongue is taste, the object of the body is touch, and the object of the mind is various thoughts and concepts. Observe all of these. Then, close the eyes again and combine the inner wisdom with bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality. This is not like the bliss of water merging into water, the union of male and female, or the bliss of being full and basking in the sun, but rather the great bliss without outflows. Clarity is like the sun shining in the sky, without clouds or shadows. One's own awareness is also the same, abiding in bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality without attachment. Non-conceptuality arises like wind or mist dissipating in the sky. Even if it arises, it arises from the sky; even if it dissipates, it dissipates in the sky. Similarly, even if thoughts arise, they arise from mind nature; even if they dissipate, they dissipate in mind nature. Even in bliss and clarity, do not cling to bliss, nor cling to suffering. Relax the awareness and let it flow naturally. Then, bliss will arise from the depths, non-conceptuality will arise from the edges, and thoughts will naturally disappear. For example, after the sun rises, darkness disappears. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even if you want it, it won't come. Precious gold, if you don't go to Gold Island (Tibetan: གསེར་གླིང་, Meaning: Golden Island), then so be it; if you go, even if you want a stone heart, it won't come. When the mind abides in clarity, even if you want conceptual thoughts to enter the heart, it won't come. When you meditate like this, three experiences will arise: The experience of stability like Mount Meru, appearances neither increase nor cause harm, it is calm abiding. The experience like the elixir of gold transformation, when the experience of appearance is applied outward, the signs naturally dissolve, and the mind itself arises as the guru. It is like dyeing cloth with colored dye. The experience like a crow clinging to a ship, the appearance applied inward arises as the guru. Just as when one touches fire, one experiences the heat, when one looks outward at appearances, the experience of non-duality wisdom arises inward. But that is not self-purification. As it is said in Hevajra (Tibetan: ཀྱཻ་རྡོ་རྗེ་): 'Because one does not meditate with the mind, all beings should meditate. If one fully understands all dharmas, non-meditation is the best meditation.' It is also said in Saṃbūṭi (Sanskrit: Saṃbūṭi): 'In a single moment of wisdom, all knowable things are pervaded.' This is the instruction of Mahamudra meditation. The instruction of equal taste of joy and sorrow The instruction of equal taste of joy and sorrow is here. Homage to the noble gurus! Those who wish to practice, all external conceptual thoughts arise from the nature of mind. When joy arises, without seeking the mind of joy, joy naturally subsides. When displeasure arises, without seeking the mind of displeasure, displeasure naturally subsides. Similarly, when hearing pleasant and unpleasant sounds, without seeking the mind of pleasant and unpleasant sounds, pleasant and unpleasant sounds naturally subside. When seeing beautiful and ugly forms, without seeking the mind of beautiful and ugly forms, beautiful and ugly forms naturally subside. All conceptual thoughts arise from the nature of mind, and they also subside in the nature of mind. Self-arising and self-subsiding, like water and bubbles. Therefore, the nature of mind is emptiness. When one knows that all conceptual thoughts are the emptiness of the nature of mind, the waves of conceptual thoughts will not rise in the mind, and the nature of mind will abide in unbornness. Unbornness has an unceasing energy. Because unbornness has an unceasing energy, realization will lead to Buddhahood, and non-realization will lead to samsara. For example, mustard seeds have the energy of oil, if planted, they will grow into mustard plants, and if pressed, they will produce oil. Similarly, unbornness has an unceasing energy, when that energy arises as awareness, it will achieve Dharmakaya. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
