Then worldly people are also left to their own conceptual thoughts. Yogis are also in a normal state of awareness. What is the difference between the two? If there is no difference, then wouldn't worldly people also naturally liberate? Worldly people do not have the instructions of yogis, so they do not understand the true meaning of non-duality, and only hold onto affirmation and negation. Even if they receive the instructions, they do not believe that the wisdom of non-duality can manifest in various ways, so they are born without any way to be liberated from dualistic conceptual thoughts. Religious people also purify themselves with the suffering of dualistic clinging from listening, thinking, and meditating. Yogis, on the other hand, are free from the causes of affirmation and negation, and the non-dual wisdom manifests as various great bliss conceptual thoughts. The difference between the two arises from that key point. If you ask some yogis about the difference between the two, the yogi will say: 'The yogi recognizes it, but the worldly person does not recognize it.' Is it recognized through meditation, or is it recognized without meditation? If it is recognized through meditation, it becomes conceptual thought. If it is known without meditation, wouldn't it be naturally liberated?' Saying that, it seems to become dull. Some say: 'If one is seized by mindfulness, even if one kills a hundred people, one will not go to the lower realms.' Then, is one seized by mindfulness through meditation, or is one seized by mindfulness without meditation? If through meditation, it becomes thought; if not through meditation, is it natural liberation?' Saying that, it also seems to become dull. So, what is it like? If one is seized by mindfulness without meditating on any affirmation or negation, then all conceptual thoughts will manifest as non-dual wisdom. Without the cause of affirmation and negation, there is no need to do sinful deeds such as killing. Because it contradicts the words of the Bhagavan (Blessed One), all those who speak in this way should be known as heretics. If one worries and calculates about being seized by mindfulness or not being seized, and about the arising of conceptual thoughts, then one is hindering the non-dual wisdom, which will cause mental distress, imbalance of the elements, and even the danger of going mad. Therefore, one should never make calculations of hope and fear. Je Tsun Nyi Gom (rje btsun snyi sgom) also said: 'Do not make artificial constructions of existence and non-existence.' His intention is also that. That is, by leaving it uncorrected, appearance and emptiness are non-dual. If one does not feel the mental distress of the duality of appearance and emptiness within, one will fall into dualistic clinging, leading to imbalance of the elements, mental distress, and the loss of ordinary awareness into dualistic clinging. He also said: 'One must understand it at the beginning of meditation.' Tibetan religious people, those with high views and knowledgeable in the Dharma, are also often full of hatred and jealousy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Effort and so on will only arise as dualistic clinging. Observe the nature of whatever arises in your own mind. Do not chase after it like a fisherman, but let it be as it is. When letting it be as it is, if many dualistic thoughts arise in your mind and you feel uncomfortable, it is because all thoughts come from the gathering of the mind. Do not gather them in, but relax and let them flow naturally, and many non-thoughts will arise. This will bring comfort. Some people, after getting used to it, will naturally be in a state of non-thought for a long time. Relax and abide in this, just maintain awareness. Then, naturally relax, do not gather in. This natural state of non-thought is the true abiding of the mind. Do not expect any signs of channels, winds, and so on. That is clinging to the mind by forcibly controlling it, not the true mind. Is the mind itself comfortable abiding in a state of non-thought? Is it comfortable to close your eyes? Is it comfortable to open your eyes? Whether it is lying down or whatever, let the body be in whatever comfortable posture. Do not make any effort to reject or establish, even if you are in a state of non-thought. Even if various thoughts arise, as long as you abide without modification, you will naturally be free from dualistic clinging. When you realize that the non-dual wisdom naturally manifests, you will recognize the nature, self, or abiding manner of the mind itself. If you understand in this way, there is no need for practice. You will spontaneously generate meditation, which cannot be abandoned or stopped. When you find that various thoughts arise uncontrollably, the non-dual wisdom will also manifest uncontrollably. Furthermore, I asked Rinpoche (尊称, meaning 'precious one'): 'How can one recognize the nature of one's own mind?' He replied: 'Recognizing the unmodified state without modification is recognizing the nature of one's own mind.' The mind itself is free from all that should be abandoned and all antidotes. We also simply abide without modification. By abiding without modification, one can be free from the actions of rejecting and establishing, and non-dual wisdom naturally manifests. That is non-thought. Just like a mute tasting brown sugar, or a young woman experiencing the pleasure of desire, without any reason, non-dual wisdom naturally becomes clear. Once non-thought and clarity arise, all actions of dualistic clinging will naturally cease. At that time, the mind will feel comfortable. Just as the body feels comfortable when the mind is comfortable, in this life one can experience the benefits of bliss, clarity, and non-thought. If the non-dual state is not obvious, then make it very obvious. If various appearances are free from sinking, they will appear as non-dual. What arises from dualistic clinging is called distraction, and abiding naturally without modification can achieve non-duality. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
