The idea that one becomes a Buddha by accumulating merit for countless three asamkhya kalpas (aeons) refers to the length of the Paramita (Perfection, going to the other shore) path. The secret mantra is a great method, so it is said that one can attain Buddhahood in this life, the bardo (intermediate state), or the next life. A third view is that if one practices without artificiality in front of others for a year, one will gain clairvoyance. Others say that one should meditate without conceptualization for a period of time, and then meditate on the dreamlike illusion. Jetsun's (Lord) teaching is to transform the five poisons and conceptual thoughts into non-dual wisdom, and once one is very familiar with it, one remains in meditation in all four activities (walking, standing, sitting, and lying down) at all times. On the top of the southern Glorious Mountain, Tilopa asked the Glorious Vajrapani, who replied, 'Leave it without artificiality.' Then he went down the mountain, and because he did not understand the meaning of 'without artificiality,' he thought of returning to ask again. Then he met the dakini Shridevi, who said, 'Do not look at your own mind, do not meditate, leave it in its ordinary state, this is without artificiality.' It is like a chakravartin (universal monarch) in the womb of a bad woman, or a treasure in the house of a poor person, but because of the fault of the woman and the treasure being covered by dust, one cannot fulfill one's needs. From beginningless samsara until now, the non-dual meaning of primordial non-artificiality arises again and again every day, but because it is not recognized, it becomes unindicated, and one cannot accomplish the needs of oneself and others. In essence, the non-artificiality without rejection or establishment is itself wisdom. Jetsun Khyithulchen said, 'It is enough to remember the non-artificiality of dharmata (the nature of reality), one does not always have to be tense. Even if one forgets it, it will become impossible to forget.' After that, do not fall asleep, do not be reckless with alcohol, do not talk too much, do not do too many physical activities. It is okay to be in a state of non-thought, or it is okay to have only conceptual thoughts, but not worldly conceptual thoughts, but only emptiness. His kindness is great. Before I met him, I was practicing non-artificiality, but I always thought that was reality, and as a result, I gained nothing but non-thought, and the worldly nature did not disappear. Because of his teachings, I understood that non-artificiality without rejection or establishment is the self-liberation of non-duality. Later, Jetsun Nyigom asked, 'Don't you think it is illogical to meditate on the mind as being without self-nature?' The answer was, 'The mind is without self-nature, like water merging into water, one does not always have to meditate.' This is what the enlightened master Khyithulchen said.
