The chapter called "Earth" has been elaborated in detail. Since it is not understood how this discourse shows untimely death, the question is: What is the meaning of this discourse? "Harmful to the body" means that, except for those who have entered into cessation and non-perception samadhi, the bodies of those who act in the desire realm can be harmed. Therefore, their lifespan is harmed by harming the body. Because there is no lifespan that does not depend on the body, lifespan depends on the body. "First" means that from "those who act in the desire realm" to "exists depending on the body," this is the first part. For those who act in the form and formless realms, and for cessation and non-perception samadhi in the desire realm, harming the support does not harm lifespan, because they are beyond the scope of harm caused by themselves and others. Therefore, they exist as they were born, without interruption in between. "Second" means that from "those who have entered samadhi" to "state," this is the second part. Suddenness belongs to the first case. The so-called suddenness means through harming the body, that is, with obstacles. Non-suddenness belongs to the second case, because there is no harm to its support, so this is without suddenness and without obstacles. Therefore, there is untimely death, because lifespan depends on the body, and suddenness has been explained. The contents elaborated in the Sutra Pitaka are not only what is said in the Dharma Skandha. So what is it? The Sutra Pitaka also speaks of untimely death. Death caused by oneself is one's own death. Death caused by others is being killed by others. Four possibilities arise, namely, one dies and others do not kill, others kill and one does not die, both are the case, and neither is the case. Due to extreme joy and extreme agitation of mind, etc., the gods play

Those intoxicated by the earth are exceedingly joyful; they frolic greatly, and due to joy and other causes, their bodies become weary, and due to intoxication of memory, they die from that place. Those whose minds are extremely agitated are those whose minds are extremely agitated; they become mentally disturbed by gazing at each other with their eyes, and thus they die from that place. It should be said that the Buddhas are also like that, meaning that they will die themselves, but not be killed by others. Regarding that, the reason is stated, which is because they die themselves. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, possess the nature of being unharmed and have mastery over relinquishing their lifespan. The second case is that they are only killed by others, and they do not die themselves, such as those in the womb in a soft, round, hardening, limb-stretching state, and those in eggs, because they do not die themselves. Both cases are dying themselves and being killed by others. Other behaviors in the desire realm refer to those that are different from what has been described. Mentioning "mostly" is to completely abandon the behaviors in the desire realm, such as the intermediate existence that will be described. The fourth case refers to neither, meaning that they do not die themselves, nor are they killed by others. The royal sage, the seeker of Dharma, the excellent one, Ganga Lan, and others should be understood from previous stories. The king's messenger, as long as he has not completed the task of the messenger, will not die himself, nor will he be killed by others. The king's teaching is that they will live until a certain time, and during that time, they will neither die themselves nor be killed by others. The last existence refers to those who attain Arhatship in that very life; before they attain that, they will neither die themselves nor be killed by others. Regarding the phrase "he is in the womb," as long as the Bodhisattva is in the womb and the Chakravartin is in the womb, then the place itself will die.
