Now, the characteristic of having signs is that its own nature is also coarse. Because ordinary beings have manifested it since beginningless time, the object of meditation will also naturally appear during practice. Because it naturally appears, through the power of practicing the characteristics of color and shape very clearly, later the color and shape will appear very clearly. During the practice of having no signs, if one does not concentrate the mind and weakly does not grasp anything, then from the perspective of ultimate truth, all dharmas are free from the eight extremes of elaboration, therefore they are profound and difficult to realize. Moreover, because ordinary beings possess wisdom, and have not manifested it before, the object of meditation will not naturally appear during practice. Therefore, one should elevate and clarify the mind, and through the power of practicing very clearly without grasping anything, one will later experience it very clearly. Therefore, if the mind is weak and does not grasp anything, one will not quickly attain the object of meditation. If growth arises in practice, then the power of not grasping anything will become weak, and one will experience the characteristic of the stream of wisdom not being clear. Therefore, one should make the stream of wisdom very clear, and practice the object of meditation very clearly. The limit of practice should be understood as explained above. Having kept these six causal dharmas in mind and practiced, one should know that the result, the order of the arising of mind, has four modes. The first mode is that, whether effort is strong or weak, not even a little of the nature of non-discrimination appears. The second mode is that, if one practices diligently, one will dwell slightly in the nature of non-discrimination, but at some times, whether effort is strong or weak, one will not dwell even a little in the nature of non-discrimination. The third mode is that, if one practices diligently, one will dwell slightly in the nature of non-discrimination, but at some times, if one practices differently, one will not dwell even a little in the nature of non-discrimination. The fourth mode is more excellent than the third mode, in that whether effort is strong or weak, one will dwell in the nature of non-discrimination, and can do so even in solitary meditation. It is free from two discordant dharmas and possesses three concordant dharmas. Or, having kept the six causal dharmas in mind and practiced, the result, the arising of mind,

The method of knowing the four limits is that the first limit is that, whether diligent or lazy, one dwells slightly in the nature of non-discrimination, but at some times, whether diligent or lazy, one does not dwell at all in the nature of non-discrimination. The second limit is more excellent than the first limit, that is, the time when one dwells slightly in the nature of non-discrimination, whether diligent or lazy, is longer, but at some times, whether diligent or lazy, one does not dwell at all in the nature of non-discrimination. The third limit is that, whether diligent or lazy, one dwells slightly in the nature of non-discrimination, but at some times, even if one practices laziness, one does not dwell at all in the nature of non-discrimination. Moreover, if one speaks from some aspects, six uncertainties will appear, that is, one does not dwell in the nature of non-discrimination, these six uncertainties are the four colors and the sky, and the sky and the earth. The fourth limit is more excellent than the third limit, and is the characteristic of possessing the four dharmas. At the time of the third limit, one should not follow the six uncertainties, because when all dharmas are free from the eight extremes in the ultimate truth, not grasping at anything is the correct wisdom. The wisdom that appears like the six uncertainties is inverted wisdom, therefore, one should know that at that time, one should not follow the six uncertainties at the time of the third limit. Or, if one remembers the six dharmas and cultivates them, the order of the arising of the mind will not appear in four situations, but one will immediately not grasp at anything. In the first session or six or seven days, one will not grasp at anything and will want to abide. Or, in a not very long time, one will immediately not grasp at anything, and will regress again in two or three days. Afterwards, one will again immediately not grasp at anything, and will want to abide. Gradually or immediately, the characteristic of wanting to abide in the object of focus is to possess the four dharmas. One should know that the clear distinctions of abiding in the object of focus are of three kinds: superior, medium, and inferior. The superior is that the power of non-discrimination is very strong, and the continuum of wisdom is also very clear. The medium is that the power of non-discrimination is medium, and the
