For transforming diseases, all can be eliminated. If pacifying can eliminate all three causes, then it is beneficial. For blood and bile arising from both upper and lower pathways, there is no medicine that can eliminate all three causes, because the three causes exist independently. Therefore, for what is consistent with the disease, perform bloodletting and examine it. That is, for diseases of blood and bile, perform bloodletting and draw out blood, then examine this blood: This is a disturbance caused by wind. This is a disturbance caused by bile. This is a disturbance caused by bile. This is a disturbance caused by phlegm. This is a disturbance caused by mixture or combination. This is caused by aggregation. Like this, examine the blood itself that is drawn out after bloodletting: Wind blood is black, red, and rough. And so on, this is caused by wind. Bile blood is yellow with black and foul pulse. And so on, this is caused by bile. Phlegm blood is soft and pale. And so on, this is caused by phlegm, until: The three causes are turbid with impurities. Until then, it is known to be caused by mixture and aggregation. Those that have become inverted and disordered should be recognized from understanding the changes. That is, those blood and bile that have become inverted and disordered should be recognized from the chapter on understanding the changes of the body: Blood and bile are very red. Or black, or fresh. And so on. Therefore, phlegm quickly causes harm. Therefore, it itself should be explained. That is, among these diseases, phlegm quickly produces harm and especially causes discomfort, therefore, the characteristics of phlegm should be explained. Phlegm is divided into five types: wind, bile, phlegm, lung abscess, and consumption. That is, there are five types of phlegm, classified according to being caused by wind, etc. This is what the great sages with divine eyes have said. If all are left untreated, they will become consumptive, and the later ones are stronger. That is, if all these phlegm are left untreated and ignored, they will eventually become consumptive and severe pulmonary tuberculosis, or eventually lead to death. Moreover, these phlegm are also stronger in the later ones, the wind's

Compared to that, bile phlegm is more powerful. Compared to that, mucus phlegm is more powerful. Compared to that, lung rupture phlegm is more powerful. Compared to that, consumption of pulmonary tuberculosis phlegm is more powerful and intense. The signs of these occurring: the throat itches and the appetite is poor, one feels as if the throat is filled with chaff. That is to say, the signs or indications of these phlegm occurring and arising later are that the throat itches and the appetite becomes poor, and one feels as if the inside of the throat is filled with chaff from all sides and becomes rough. To that, the downward moving wind is harmed, going upwards and reaching the chest. At that time, it clings to the inside of the neck. After the veins of the head are filled, then like lifting the limbs, it distracts, to the point where the eyes bulge. The back, chest, and ribs ache and throb. When it occurs and flows in the mouth, the phlegm makes a sound like a broken container. That is to say, for all phlegm, because the downward moving wind is harmed and does not allow it to flow downwards, it goes upwards and reaches the chest. At that time, because its force exceeds, it clings and stays up to the neck. Entering from the vein openings of the head, it fills and pervades those places. Then, below that, the limbs of the body move upwards and lift, thus distracting. Likewise, the eyes ache and throb to the point of bulging, and the back, chest, and sides of the ribs also ache and throb, so the wind flows and occurs in the opening of the mouth. At that time, the phlegm makes a sound like a broken container, and it sounds as if something is being broken in the mouth, etc. The differentiation of the basis of the disease, the disease is also different, and is accompanied by force. Whatever disease's sound is uneven, phlegm arises from that. That is to say, because of the different causes of the basis of the disease, the phlegm disease is also different, and that wind is accompanied by force or strength. Therefore, whatever phlegm disease it is, its sound is uneven, and because of the loud sound, etc., that phlegm arises. This is what is being shown: wind has a natural force, and that force also increases or
