If bitter and astringent medicines that are beneficial for phlegm occurring in the upper part are taken, then it will harm the wind, thereby increasing the downward flow; and if sweet medicines that are beneficial for wind occurring in the lower part are given, then it will harm the phlegm, thereby increasing the upward flow. Therefore, for this blood and bile arising from both paths, like purgatives, there is absolutely no way to pacify. This is because the disease has mixed and is staying in one place, and then begins to act.
