It also transforms. Furthermore, that cause transforms by means of transmitting sound, for example, when the sound "Devadatta is not here" indicates the village of Barana, that is transmission. That sound does not merely indicate that Devadatta is not here, but it causes one to understand the village of Barana. That cause transforms into showing the very nature of phenomena, such that if it is not merely eliminating conceptualization, but causes one to show the oneness of essence, then it may show the very nature of things, or it may show the very nature of non-things, thus it transforms into showing the very nature of phenomena. That cause itself causes the speaker's own intention to be accomplished, such that although all speech directly causes others to understand, if it does not merely accomplish that, but also serves one's own purpose through transmission, therefore it also accomplishes one's own intention without harming the meaning. That cause also transforms into the arising of negation when one desires to understand the meaning of phenomena, such that when one shows what the meaning is, that sound causes that meaning to revert, therefore it arises when one desires it. Thus, the difference between negating non-existence and negating non-being, the root of those differences, the negation of non-existence is that which exists, which is the non-establishment and the negation of non-being, is the nature of establishing existence, when showing, because one does not understand the cause of the nature of not establishing existence and the nature of establishing existence, therefore, to show that, The distinction of attention. In whose mind does speech abide? That is the cause of the two distinctions. Thus it is said, whatever the speaker's discriminating and possessing consciousness, in the desired object, whatever is made the object of the mind thrown by attention because it is understood by others, the generality of the meaning, and the generality of the sound spoken of it, are the same in the object of one consciousness, the name and the basis of the name are able to connect, and that which is the nature of producing sound, that is the cause. If the cause of that sound is such, then here, does the speaker's mind only speak of the distinction of attention as the cause? That is because it is uncommon, it is reasonable to show that, thus, like the sound produced from a flute, called the sound of a flute, etc., their decay...

Although there are also Yogis and others, from an uncommon perspective, Tibetans, in the same way, within a single object of knowledge, possess the nature of generating common sounds and meanings, being the cause of all sounds, so it should not be spoken of. However, the difference in attention is the cause of particularity, so it should be spoken of. Furthermore, the difference in attention is the main factor of the cause, because it is the agent. Because the ability to independently generate sounds is attention. If someone attends to the thought that it should be understood merely as non-existent, then at that time, a collection of sounds that corresponds to the term "non-existent" will arise in the consciousness that possesses conceptualization. For example, when there is a magnet, relying on it, iron will move. Similarly, if there is the agent of motivation—attention—then relying on the continuum of consciousness, the appearance of the common aspect of sound and meaning will arise in the consciousness that possesses permanence. Moreover, this appearance also arises according to how attention directs it, just as the direction and manner in which the magnet moves, the iron will also move accordingly. The movement of consciousness also moves according to its respective appearances, and since appearances also have the nature of similarity, when they gather together, expression arises. Because gathering depends on attention, here it is only said that it is the nature of the cause of difference. Now, in order to show that the root of the difference between the two negations, that is, the cause of not establishing existence and establishing existence, is the difference in attention, because the difference between the two attentions is not known, therefore, in order to show it: The difference in attention should be understood through the time of arising. "Understanding" is said in order to eliminate not understanding, misunderstanding, and doubt. The attention that one should eliminate not understanding, misunderstanding, and doubt, and the attention that one should comprehend the suchness of all phenomena, these two attentions will lead to establishing existence and not establishing existence. In order to show by what the difference in attention is distinguished, it is said, "That is distinguished by the object." That is to say, it is distinguished by the difference in the object. What is the object? It is saying the necessity.
