For the doer, it is called the karma that exists on the basis of what is done. For the individual, it is called the karma that exists on the doer. For the tool, it is called the karma that exists on the doer. When negating these karmas, the place of the basis remains those themselves. Similarly, for all the following, connections should be made. Negating the doer is from "If one does not cut with the eye, what is to be done" to "It is not cutting." It is the same elsewhere. The basis is as before. The reason for negation is: not making offerings and generosity for the sake of happiness is a cause for blame in the world, like this. Negating the source is: not arising from the cause, wanting the fruit is like a lowly person, like this. Negating the relationship is: like this, the suffering of wandering is the fruit of correct view, like this. Negating the support is: if someone wants to be with me, that does not exist in the correct view, like this. Negating the vocative is not there, because for all that is said, the vocative has no basis. For negation, the vocative is there, because for all that is said, the vocative is applicable. Negating the definite object is: the only son of Devadatta is not a white-clad one, and the son of Devadatta is not the only white-clad one, and the good white-clad son of Devadatta is not the only one, like this. For those also, there are two: negating by determining, and negating determining. Among them, if one negates by determining, then the only son of Devadatta is not a white-clad one, showing that others do not have a white-clad son, negating that also shows that Devadatta does not have a white-clad son, and shows that all others do. If one negates determining, then Devadatta and all others have a common white-clad one, it is not that only Devadatta has it, nor is it that others do not have it, this is negating determining that others do not possess it. Furthermore, the son of Devadatta is not the only white-clad one, when negating this determining that others do not possess it, if one negates by determining, then the son of Devadatta is not a white-clad one, others such as blue ones are, it will become like this. If it is negating determining, then the son of Devadatta, the white-clad one, and the blue

Bathing and the like are common, not just the white garment alone, this is how it is translated here. Furthermore, if one denies that the son of the god-given only has a good white garment, merely possessing it, then if one grasps and negates it definitively, the son of the god-given will have no white garment. Other people's sons all exist, this is how it is translated here. If one grasps and negates it definitively, then the son of the god-given is not only the white garment, but exists in common with other people's sons, this is how it is translated here. Furthermore, all negations that belong to definite clinging are negated in such a way. Among them, the aspect of grasping and negating definitively is not the negation of a word, but it is negated by distinguishing through the word, therefore it will not become a negation of action. Similarly, for actions and the like, if one grasps and negates them definitively, then one should examine them in that way. All those changes are so when combined with negation, but not when combined with negation. Now, in order to explain in detail the object of negation and its own nature and other categories, each will be explained one by one, first starting from the object. "The object of non-existence and its name, are separate and distinct." Etc., it is said like this. Now, although it is generally said "the object of the name of non-existence," non-existence and its name are different, and their objects are also different. What does this mean? "Non-existence" is where there is nothing, that is non-existence. And its name is threefold: the cognition that thinks "there is nothing," saying "there is nothing," and knowing the nature of entering unimpeded by non-existence. Knowing, saying, and entering are the three kinds of names. That is, it is merely discrimination, and the nature of discriminating sounds and the like that appear on it, and all the entering and speaking of body and speech. Because everything is not the nature of the thing itself, nor does it exist in it, but it is strongly recognized and discriminated, therefore these are called "the name of non-existence." In all cases, it should be understood in the same way. Then, what is the difference in their objects? To explain this, it says: "The object of non-existence is one, That which exists in what, is that."
