If it is said that "it also originates from memory, but not only from fire," then this means that the knowledge of smoke is related to memory, and the word "also" indicates that it also originates from fire. How is this reasonable? If it is believed that the cause of producing names also arises here through transmission, otherwise, if the cause of producing names for memory and so on does not exist when the object exists, then it is not the cause of arising. Therefore, this statement should not be linked to the statement that "inference is also not the cause of arising." If it is believed that the object of memory and so on, that is, the universal concept, is the cause of producing names, and it is merely conventionally existent, therefore it is not the cause of arising, therefore they are not direct perception, then, here too, there is the same answer. If this is the case, then inference also merely points to conventionally existent things, therefore, it is unreasonable to say that "the knowledge of smoke is related to memory, it also originates from memory, but not only from fire." Therefore, the error of overextension still remains. Here, there are two statements: those who believe that knowable things are internal and those who believe that external objects are truly existent. For those who believe that knowable things are internal, in the state of not seeing reality, valid cognition and the object of valid cognition exist, but it is merely not fully established, and this description of the distinction between valid cognition and the object of valid cognition is merely like what the deluded see. This has already been refuted before. Those who believe that external objects are truly existent believe that external objects are truly existent objects of valid cognition, and also believe that valid cognition with it as its object exists. In order to prove that this is unreasonable, now merely through focusing on the object, an analysis is given, that is, "if it is said that form and so on are things as objects," then, without a doubt, it should be understood in this way: those who write merely for the sake of refuting arguments, believe that "one should not know or show knowledge oneself, the essence is the object of the senses."
