They answer with 'bya ba' (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) and so on. For the time being, this cannot be established as direct perception, because the self-characteristic of a thing cannot be indicated by what does not follow it. Therefore, the consciousnesses that grasp it are indeed inexpressible, because it is impossible to grasp an object without establishing a connection by combining it with sound. Therefore, direct perception, because it is the self-characteristic of existence, must undoubtedly be free from conceptualization, and because it is a valid cognition, it must be free from error. Therefore, the wise say, "Direct perception is free from conceptualization and free from error." This statement, which follows reason, is stated as the definition of direct perception. Recognition is not free from conceptualization, because it is reasonable due to the very nature of the expression, "This is it." Nor is it free from error, because it necessarily engages in regarding different things as non-different. How so? It is stated, "This is what was previously cognized," and so on. If it were to become an object with the meaning of what was previously perceived, then it would arise previously, because it itself is the object, so the cause is complete, just like the previous consciousness. "Because it has meaning" means that the object previously cognized, where the meaning exists as an object, that object with meaning is indeed its meaning. "It is not so" means to explain the opposite of the fault. The argument is that if something exists completely in something but does not change, then it is not its object. For example, even if there is complete form, ear consciousness will not arise from it. The recognition at the time of vajra (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) and so on also does not arise even when complete, because the pervasive is not seen. Therefore, if vajra (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) and so on are independent of other things and are permanent, then the consciousness that is its object, because the cause is complete, would arise previously, but it is not so. Therefore, this proves that it is impermanent. Because it engages in determining the same and different things as non-different, it is like the consciousness of the echo of an illusionary valley, this is err

The saying "it is that" is complete and without omission. Therefore, having a harmless object is also not established. Because, as previously stated, it has been established as being mistaken. This is also not valid because it grasps what has already been grasped, just like memory. To show this, it is said, "the meaning that has already been established," and so on. Because only that which measures and accomplishes a task, and which can provide a special benefit, is the one who establishes that, and is called a valid authority. If recognition becomes the object of meaning that has already been grasped by a previous valid cognition, then how can it be complete, since it enters into the meaning that has already been established as the object to be measured, and therefore there is no valid authority to establish it? Otherwise, memory would also become valid cognition. If it is not something that has become a valid cognition, then it should not be considered a damaging factor either, because that would be too extreme. If someone thinks, "Although this has not become an independent valid cognition, even so, the previous meaning is the object, and therefore it can harm this moment of non-abiding," that is not correct. Because, in reality, it does not have the characteristic of being the previous object, because it arises together with speech. Even if there is no object, due to the power of delusion, certainty arises about the meaning that was previously seen, and therefore it is only due to the power of certainty that it is said that the previously seen meaning is the object. Therefore, how can this recognition, which is by nature deluded, eliminate the non-abiding of moments? By saying "existing in the present time," and so on, using the analogy of a young woman not being taken, it shows that it is not established because it grasps what has already been grasped. He said: The previous direct perception does not cognize the meaning as existing in the present time, because it is unreasonable to grasp the aspect of "that is this." Therefore, this recognition is different from memory. How is it different? It is said, "It is merely something other than the previous," and so on. Memory enters by grasping the aspect of the previous cognition with the thought "it is that," while recognition arises with the thought "it is this," and even so, it also grasps the aspect of the meaning, its

Memory It is more excellent than others, meaning it has distinctiveness. Therefore, by harming those who are doubtful and inverted, recognition will become a true measure. From where does it harm these things? The reason for explaining this is: Because it does not exist in realization. It means that because these do not exist in the meaning of realization, it is like feeling cold in a great gathering filled with burning flames. However, just as the realization of blue, etc., how can the things proven by inference also be harmed by direct perception at other times and become other, doesn't this also apply here? If recognition can establish the meaning of permanence, then in later times, through the sequence of its results, the sequence is established by inference, wouldn't it become other? How does it harm momentary impermanence? To this doubt, it is mentioned "by the other," etc. The other, for example, that is blue, because it is its son. Like its son appearing, through inference, etc. Direct perception then becomes other. It means that direct perception becomes other, inverted from the form measured by inference, etc. Established means the meaning of the object. The other's arising is impossible. It means that from direct perception, the other's inference, etc., as harm, arising is impossible. Why? It mentions "the head of measure," etc. Because direct perception, for the meaning established later, is what makes it other, this is reasonable, because it is the head of all measures. Inference, etc., cannot make the meaning established by direct perception become other, because their power is weak. The steadfast one refers to being separated from doubt and inversion, etc. Inversion refers to becoming other. If it says, etc. is engaging in debate, recognition
