It is not self-nature, for example, like a person without mind acknowledged by others. Sound and so on are also separate from the nature of awareness, which is called the non-manifestation of pervasion. If you think like this, if the nature of happiness and so on is established as pervaded by the nature of awareness, then when it disappears, the nature of happiness and so on on sound and so on will also disappear. Because that itself is not established. If you think that this is because the person himself is considered to be the nature of reason, then it is said, "Because its self-awareness is clear." Therefore, happiness and so on are all established as the nature of reason. Why? Because happiness and so on are self-awareness, and self-awareness is also clear. Happiness and so on, whether the objects of sound and so on exist or not with the nature of joy and suffering, are clear, not dependent on others, the characteristic of self-nature, the characteristic of this self-awareness is clear. Clear, the nature of tranquility and so on that does not depend on others, that is established by itself. That is indicated by the names such as sentient being, happiness, awareness, and knowledge. If happiness and so on are experienced by other awareness, it will become experienced. At that time, they will become awareness, becoming the nature of non-tranquility and so on. Because oneself is not its nature, for example, like a yogi and a reasoner experiencing the happiness and so on of others. If it is not like that, then yogis and so on will also directly experience happiness and so on like patients and so on. Or, like yogis and so on, there will be no benefit or harm to others, because there is no difference. When awareness is also acknowledged as the nature of tranquility and so on, happiness and so on are established as the nature of awareness. Experiencing tranquility and non-tranquility, this is precisely our happiness and suffering. Therefore, the reason is not uncertain. It is also not unestablished, because for all those who claim that external objects exist, sound and so on are separate from the nature of awareness.

It is because of being established. Otherwise, it would become an admission of the tenets of the Mind-Only school, and that is just one's own wish. The reason is not contradictory either, because it exists in the concordant side. Thinking thus: If consciousness is not the nature of blue, etc., but because of the proximity of blue, etc., existing externally, it appears as the nature of blue, etc., then similarly, if it is not the nature of tranquility, etc., but because of the power of the proximity of external pleasure, etc., it presumes itself to be the nature of tranquility, etc. Therefore, even if consciousness is the nature of tranquility, etc., pleasure, etc., is not established as the nature of consciousness. Therefore, it is necessary to say, "The root reason is uncertain, thinking thus, sound, etc., are the only ones." In "the difference of habituation and lineage," habituation is doing much, lineage is one's own nature, and their difference is the distinction. In "attachment, etc.," attachment is clinging, etc., includes joy, etc., as well as hatred and sorrow, etc., and inferiority and obscuration, etc., which encompass the collection of results possessing three qualities. The so-called "certainty" is a state of one, such as through the difference of habituation, the habitual desire, etc., arises for corpses and women, etc., as signs of loveliness and unloveliness, and also the difference of lineage, such as the joy, etc., arises for some certain ones among the offspring of horses and elephants, etc., but not for all. If sound, etc., are the nature of pleasure, etc., this is also unreasonable. Why? Because it is said, "One thing follows after." All of them are because they have objects without different things, just like consciousness with blue, etc., as objects, each consciousness would also become diverse. Thinking thus: Although it is the nature of three things, but for the unseen, etc., due to the power of simultaneous arising with the nature of all dharmas, etc., some appear as the nature of some, but not all appear as the nature of all.
