The measure established by etc. indicates. Those distinguishing things say: Regarding cows, pigs, elephants, etc., the differences in knowledge and expression of cows, etc., are: different from symbols, shapes, and objects, the similar reasons that conform to their own nature are reasons with other reasons, so it is said. If cows, etc., are the object, then, for objects, etc., because there is knowledge and expression different from the knowledge and expression of their own nature. For those cows, etc. themselves, such as a cow with a calf, a buffalo carrying a load, a pig with a nose ring, an elephant with a hook, like the differences in expression and knowledge of these, etc. The dissimilar dharma is the difference between the expression and knowledge of the self-nature of objects, etc. Whatever other reasons there are, those are established as cows themselves, etc. Among them, expression is sound. Knowledge is the meaning called knowledge and expression. Knowledge and expression themselves are a collection of differences. A symbol is what is conventionally agreed upon. Shape is form. An object is matter. The sound of etc. includes form, etc. Because those conform to and differ from their respective self-natures, respective expressions, and knowledge, therefore, for which are those similar other reasons reasons? Thus, combine the words. Or, those are also different from symbols, etc., and for the knowledge and expression of existence, etc., they follow and mix with their own nature, thus combine the words. The remainder is as before. Saying means vowing. To dispel the doubt of illusion arising from the knowledge of rabbit horns, etc., it is specially said that cows, etc., are the object. For the expression and knowledge different from the expression and knowledge of the self-nature of objects, etc., whatever possesses it, its thing is that itself, thus combine the words. The difference between the expression and knowledge of the self-nature object of the dissimilar dharma objects, etc., because there are no other reasons different from those, etc., therefore, there is also no reason as stated.

Having spoken. The author of Light said: The knowledge that follows cows and other things arises from a reason different from that of pots and the like, because it possesses distinctiveness, just like the cognition of blue and so on. Similarly, the cow itself is a different thing for the cow, because it is the object of different knowledge, just like shape and touch and so on. Because it is the object of the term of knowledge, for example, the term "black horse" indicates that it is different from black. This indication refers to "for cows, etc.," and so on, that's all. Therefore, one answers with "all of these are meaningless," and so on. To what was said, "The knowledge of anything that exists, etc., depends on the senses, because the function of the senses exists." If one considers "arising immediately from the function of the senses" to be the reason for inference, then this reason is not established, because recognition with concepts and memory, etc., interrupt. It is also not reasonable to say that objects of mutually exclusive self-nature, without a common consequence, even through transmission, cannot be the cause of different and non-different knowledge. To dispel this doubt, examples such as "for example" are mentioned. For example, although Emblic myrobalan and others have extremely different bodies, whether individually or collectively, even without a common consequence, they possess the ability to counteract various diseases. Therefore, it should also not be said that the generality itself can prove doing such things. Because they do not possess the generality that can prove doing various things. If it exists, then in some cases, the ability of Emblic myrobalan and others to quickly or gradually pacify diseases, etc., would not be observed, because they are of the essence of the same generality. It is not reasonable to say that the generality itself can prove doing various things by proving the particularity through actions such as soaking in fields and milk. Because, since it is eternal, even from the particularity of fields, etc., it does not generate other changes, therefore there will be no particularity.
