Generally, there are two types: supreme and non-supreme. The supreme refers to "existence," because it is the cause of knowledge that encompasses all things, qualities, and actions. It is solely generality and not particularity. The non-supreme refers to the characteristics of things, qualities, and actions, etc., because it is also the cause of knowledge that pertains to its own dependent things, etc., and is therefore called generality. However, it is distinguished by the very cause of knowledge that differentiates it from its own dependent dissimilar kinds, so even though it is generality, it is also called particularity. For example, with regard to qualities, etc., the arising of this reversing thought, such as "non-thing" and "non-quality," etc., proves that it is the nature of quality itself and the nature of thing itself, etc., that exists, and not of others, because there is no such thing as "non-thing itself." Considering the difference in dependence, it is thought that there is no contradiction with the entities of oneness, generality, and particularity. Explaining the characteristics of other particularities. Some particularities are considered to be solely particularities and not generalities, because they are inherently negations, meaning they are the cause of negative knowledge. What are these? "Permanent substances," etc., are mentioned. As it is said, the ultimate that is included in permanent substances is particularity. The so-called inclusion in permanent substances is because it includes atoms, space, time, direction, self, and mind. Because they are the end of movement, destruction, and creation, the liberated self and the liberated mind are the end of samsara, and therefore are ultimate. Therefore, what exists in them is ultimate, because they are not clearly perceived. Inclusion means that these atoms, etc., are included in permanent substances. Therefore, both the inclusion in permanent substances and the concept of ultimate are accepted. Because they are also the cause of mutually different concepts, they are called particularities by distinguishing them from the other things they depend on. Furthermore, what are these composed of? "By what power," etc., is mentioned. For example, the self

For example, due to the fact that cows and the like possess form, guṇa (गुण, गुण,quality, attribute), action, and limbs, the knowledge of horses and the like is seen, such as cow, white, fast-moving, and having a full dewlap, in order. Similarly, those yogins who are superior to us, for the eternal atoms that are the same in form, guṇa (गुण, गुण,quality, attribute), and action, and for the liberated ātman (आत्मन्, आत्मन्,self) and manas (मनस्, मनस्,mind), in the absence of other kāraṇa (कारण, कारण,cause), by what power does the knowledge arise on each basis, thinking, "This is different from that"? For those who have not seen a field, time, or kalpa that contradicts this, the recognition of "This is indeed that" that arises in yogins, inferred through special knowledge, establishes the existence and difference. Those also depend on each basis just as I do, but for yogins, it is established by direct perception. If asked, how are jāti (जाति, जाति,caste, class) established? The answer is: "Existence" and so on have been stated. Whatever belongs to something, follows it, and ceases with its cessation, then it is produced from that, and should be determined as such. The arising of knowledge of "existence" and so on in dravya (द्रव्य, द्रव्य,substance) and the like also follows what belongs to the senses and ceases with its cessation. Why is the name "produced by the senses" not applied to it? If it were not so, it would be too extreme. In order to prove the existence of these through anumāna (अनुमान, अनुमान,inference), "anumāna (अनुमान, अनुमान,inference)" and so on have been stated. The "difference of knowledge" refers to the knowledge of a form that is different from things like dravya (द्रव्य, द्रव्य,substance). "Having arisen from another kāraṇa (कारण, कारण,cause)" means having arisen from another kāraṇa (कारण, कारण,cause), that is, the one that is born exists in this. "Refinement" refers to the knowledge that is different from the form of something, and it arises from another kāraṇa (कारण, कारण,cause) other than that, just like the knowledge of red and so on for clothes, dyes, and wool. The knowledge of "existence" and so on in dravya (द्रव्य, द्रव्य,substance) and the like is also the same, which others consider to be the nature hetu. This is precisely the meaning of pramāṇa (प्रमाण, प्रमाण,valid cognition). Through "cows, elephants, etc.," things are distinguished.
