Therefore, the inference of the present world must be firmly acknowledged. In order to refute the afterlife, it is said that the establishment is possible if there is no invisibility. Therefore, if it is said that this itself is expressed by inference, and inference is not a valid cognition, then how can it not be denied? The knowledge arising from sound should also be considered valid because it is not deceptive with regard to external objects. And non-deception itself is not reasonable without a connection. Nor is there any connection between sounds and external objects. If there is a connection between sound and things, then it must either be its nature or arise from it. First of all, it is not its nature, because sound and things appear very different. Its nature is said to be the same, and if it is acknowledged to be the same even when it appears different, then cows and horses and so on will also become the same. Nor does it arise from it, because there is no following and reversing. Therefore, it cannot be said that it arises from it. Thus, even without the action of sound, it can be seen that things such as pots arise from their own causes, such as lumps of clay, sticks, water, and wheels. And sound, without external objects, arises only from the action of the throat and so on, merely through the will of a person. Or, if it is said that other than its nature and what arises from it, only the connection of the characteristics of expressing and being expressed exists between things, sounds, and objects, then, a person who does not understand the sign, merely by uttering the sound, just as one understands pots and so on from lamps and so on, will certainly understand the meaning of things definitively, but that is also not the case. For example, a person newly arrived from Coconut Island, even if he hears the sound "Angi," cannot understand any definite meaning from the sound "Angi." Or, if it is said that only by relying on that sign can one understand that and that, and that is what is produced by sound, that is not the case. Because in that case, this is no longer a valid cognition, because it applies to all signs. Therefore, either speak the meaning you want to express, or do not prevent knowing other things.

It should stop. Even if there are only some other relationships, it is easy to understand. Even so, it should be asked, what relationship is it that makes them related to each other? If it is said that it is caused by another fourth relationship, then the fourth relationship is also related to them, and what makes it related? If it is said that it is through some fifth relationship, then it should also be asked what makes it related. If it cannot be exhausted, then the latter relationship cannot be established, and the former relationship cannot be established. If it is said that the relationship between sound and meaning is just that there is no relationship, that is not right. Because how can things that have no relationship become related? Like a vase and a cloth. Or, the nature of the relationship is just like this, it does not depend on other relationships, it can make the other party connect with each other. If you say that, it is unreasonable. If it is the nature of an already established pramana, then there is no need to answer. Because it cannot be further explained. For example, the nature of fire is like this, it itself is burning, unlike the sky and other things. If the relationship is established, then even a small part of the pramana has not been seen by the enlightened ones. Saying that the nature of the power of sound itself can make sounds point to definite meanings without confusion is also unreasonable. Because, if the sound "vase" relies only on its own nature to express an object with the shape of an abdomen and neck that can hold water, then how can it rely on other conventions and express things like horses through people's wishes? The seed of the Sal tree, because its nature can produce buds from its own cause, it does not rely on other conventions to produce vases or have the ability to produce vases. Sounds produced through trust should not be considered pramana here, because trust itself cannot be determined. Therefore, trust itself is considered to have eliminated faults, and eliminating faults is considered to be some kind of activity in the minds of others, and the activities in the minds of others are also difficult to express. Actions of body and speech, etc. as signs of results, also show that they can function in other ways. People with desire also pretend to be without desire, and so on.
