The appearance of similarity has been explained. 'Non-erroneous contradiction' means that there is no fault of reasoning anywhere, so its example is unreasonable. If there is an example of it, then whatever exists in all directions and is manifestly related to itself as one, that is what goes everywhere. For example, like the sky, existing in all directions is manifestly related to the general because it is related to itself. This is the combination of the nature of the white lotus. Also, the second combination is the combination of example negation, that is, whatever is the nature of what is perceived, whatever is not perceived, that does not exist. For example, there is no vase in some direction. The general nature of what is perceived is clear, and because it is not perceived between the clear, it is like that. This imperceptible reasoning and the previously stated nature of reasoning contradict each other, so doubt arises. The similar aspect and the different example are said to be non-existent, and this similar aspect is the example of similar dharma. So, what is the appearance of similarity like? For the time being, the similar dharma is like this: sound is permanent because it is non-corporeal, like action. This is incomplete because action is impermanent. Sound is permanent because it is non-corporeal, like atoms. This is incomplete because atoms are corporeal. Sound is permanent because it is non-corporeal, like a vase. This is incomplete in both aspects of proof. Similarly, an example of the appearance of similarity that causes doubt about the dharma to be established is, for example, a certain person who has attachment and so on because he speaks, like a great path person. In this case, there is doubt about having attachment and so on in the example of the great path person, because it is difficult to know the minds of others. If there is doubt about the dharma to be established, for example, a certain person has the dharma of death, which is to be established, because he has attachment and so on. This reasoning causes doubt in the example of the great path person.

No. Because even those who are free from attachment are moved like those who are attached. Like the example of doubting both dharmas, for example, for the purpose of proving that "some subjects are not omniscient," the reason used is "because they possess attachment, etc.," then for the example of a person on the great path, there will be doubt about what is to be proven and what proves it. Examples of similar instances of no subsequent occurrence, no demonstration of subsequent occurrence, and inverted subsequent occurrence are: Among them, an example of no subsequent occurrence is, for example, whoever speaks is one who possesses attachment, etc., like a person on the great path. Because speakers and those who possess attachment, etc., both prevent the nature of doing things. An example of not showing the subsequent occurrence is like, for example, "sound is impermanent, because it is produced." This has a subsequent occurrence, but it is said that the pervasion is not shown, which is like a similar example due to the fault of speech. An example of inverted subsequent occurrence is, for example, "whatever is permanent is produced, like a pot, etc." Here, what is to be proven is impermanence, and the pervasion of what is to be proven over what proves it should be shown, not the pervasion of what proves it over what is to be proven. Therefore, this is a similar example of inverted subsequent occurrence. These are the nine similar examples of homogeneous dharmas that have been shown. Examples of dissimilar dharmas will be shown, first, a similar example of the dharma to be proven not being pervasive: for example, "sound is permanent, because it is not corporeal, like atoms." Here, atoms are an example of dissimilar dharma, because not being corporeal is the pervasion of the dharma that proves it, because atoms are corporeal. The dharma to be proven—permanence—is not pervasive, because atoms are permanent. An example of the non-pervasiveness of what proves it is, for example, "sound is permanent, because it is not corporeal, like karma." Here, the dharma to be proven—permanent

It is not the opposite, because karma is not embodied. Neither is the opposite, for example, sound is permanent because it is not embodied, like space and so on. Here, in the example of dissimilar dharmas such as space, what is to be established and what establishes it are not opposite. Similarly, doubting what is to be established and its opposite, doubting what establishes it and its opposite, and doubting both and their opposites, it appears like an example of doubting the opposite of what is to be established. For example, Samkhya and others are not omniscient, because they have not solely created treatises that are signs of omniscience. Here, the example of dissimilar dharmas says that whatever is not omniscient is a treatise on astrology and so on, such as Vaisheshika and Vedanta. Here, in the example of dissimilar dharmas, there is doubt as to whether Vaisheshika and Vedanta and others are the opposite of not being omniscient. Doubting the opposite of what establishes it is, for example, here the words of the three-knowing Brahmin, Samkhya, and rice-eaters and other people should not be accepted, because they possess desire and so on. Here, the example of similar dharmas is that whatever words should be accepted are not those that possess desire and so on, like the Dharma treatises composed by Gautama and so on, doubting whether the Dharma of possessing desire and so on is the opposite of Gautama and so on. Doubting the opposite of both is, for example, Samkhya and others are not without desire, because they possess grasping and universal grasping. Here, the example of similar dharmas says that whatever is without desire is not that which possesses grasping and universal grasping, like Vaisheshika and Vedanta and so on. Here, in the example of dissimilar dharmas such as Vaisheshika, there is doubt as to whether the very dharma to be established, which is being without desire, and the dharma that establishes it, which is possessing grasping and universal grasping, are opposite or not. Obtaining something that was not previously obtained is grasping.
