Just as the three are valid reasons, to show that others are not valid reasons, it is said "inherently related," because they are inherently separated. The inherent relation itself is the nature of relation, meaning that the two things to be established, the cause and its own nature, are no different from the result and the inherent relation, so one word summarizes the two. The meaning of "if" is "because," because if there is an inherent relation, then what can be established can understand what is to be established, so all three can be understood, while others cannot. Why is it that only things with an inherent relation are understandable, while others are not? So it is said, "If it is not related," where "it" refers to the inherent nature, and not being related to the inherent nature means not being separated from it. If something is not inherently related to something, then it cannot be certain that it will not be confused, and not confusing the object of relation is not confusing it. Its certainty is the certainty of not confusing it, because it does not exist. The meaning is that if something is not inherently related to something, then for the unrelated object, there will be no doubt that it will not be confused, and if these do not exist, then there will be no non-occurrence, certainty, non-confusion, and certainty. The understandable thing and the understandable thing arise from the certainty of non-confusion, and merely through the way of possibility, like a lamp, it is not right to think of it as a reason for understanding hidden things, yet it must be non-confusing. Therefore, if there is an inherent relation, then it is the case that it will not occur without it, and from this arises the understandable thing and the understandable thing. Therefore, if there is an inherent relation, then things can understand things, otherwise they cannot, and that is its basis. Is not being dependent on other things a relation of not being dependent on other things? Which of the things to be established and the things that can be established here is related to which? To show that the sign is related to the thing to be established, it is said "it also," it is also that the sign is inherently related to the thing to be established, the sign is

Because it depends on others, it is a relation, and for the meaning to be proven, because it does not depend on others, it is the object of relation, not a relation, this is the definition of the word. Its meaning is like this: even if there is no difference in its own nature, whatever is a relation is what makes it understood; whatever is the object of relation is what is to be understood. Whatever is determined as the nature of a certain dharma is related to it, for example, impermanence itself is what arises from effort. Whatever is the nature of it and others is the object of relation, but it is not a relation, for example, for what arises from effort, it is like saying impermanence itself. Understanding and making it understood depend on certainty, and what arises from effort is also certain in its own nature, therefore it itself is related to impermanence itself. Therefore, only the object of certainty is the thing to be understood and the thing to be made understood, not the others. Why is the sign related to the nature? Because it is said "in reality," whatever is the nature of the meaning to be proven, its thing is itself, therefore it is for this reason. Because what can establish is the nature of what is to be established, therefore there is the meaning of the nature relation there. If the nature to be established is what can establish, then because there is no difference between what is to be established and what can establish, will one side of the meaning of the proposition become a reason? Because it is said "in reality," these two are not different in the way of existing ultimately. If one observes the object of constant thought, the fabricated appearance, then what is to be established and what can establish are different, because depending on certainty itself is what is understood and what makes it understood. Therefore, the difference between these two only depends on the nature that abides in certainty, and not from different kinds of real things. It is not from some of its own nature, but from the sign itself that arises from what is to be established, and the sign that arises from it is also related to the meaning and nature of what is to be established.
