Now to translate. The reason why other reasons are not valid is that, for the terms of cause and effect, it changes from the world itself; for the term of non-existence, one should follow the reasoning of debate. Merely possessing such a reason is definitely determined from entering (the term) once. Even if it exists, if the term is not used, then it will become the fault of another reason. Therefore, even if it exists in that way, if the term is not used, then it is another reason. If one sees from entering (the term) once that a certain term is the only reason, then this contradicts the above. Therefore, by observing the contradiction of self-nature, the concomitance is established. Here, the reasoning should be observed as follows: Whatever is the reason for something alone, when it exists, that thing exists; for a non-existent thing, it is generally necessary to rely on other reasons. What contradicts this also possesses only that kind of reason. Therefore, here, the term should be used simply because that reason exists. The mere non-appearance is the reason, and it is not acceptable to have other reasons, which is also known from entering the term once. The way in which the pervasion of all characteristic reasonings is established should be observed only in this way. There are two types of reasoning: the characteristic reasoning that has the object of terms, which is known to be related to the term from entering the term itself once. For example, the reason for the term 'cow,' for the object of characteristics that has features such as a dewlap, is also known to be related from entering the term once. This is the reasoning of characteristics. The other is the reasoning of things, which is what establishes the dharma of things. Even being able to use terms is examined, but it is not the thing itself. If someone thinks, why does it not establish the self-nature of cause and effect, or the non-existence of things themselves, but only the term? Then, it can be said that the self-nature of cause and effect is nothing other than concomitance and reversal, etc. The causal self-nature of cause and effect arises from concomitance and reversal, etc., that is, from things and non-things. Therefore, that which has become a characteristic, if it exists, only establishes existence itself.

Then what can be accomplished? It is the accomplishment of ignorance regarding terminology. Similarly, the term "as it is" means that if it exists, existence itself is the nature of cause and effect, as it is. The reason for being able to be objectified, the non-objectifiable itself is the absence of things, because in the terminology of absence, it is a branch of accomplishing activities, therefore it is the absence of things. Thus, the term "absence of things" is not to be known by direct perception, because it is without inherent existence. However, it is established in terminology. By the appearance of a place devoid of a pot, the arising of direct perception with certainty of its own meaning, thereby determining that the absence of appearing things is included within, if there is doubt that there are other appearing things, then one cannot be certain that "I have seen that empty place," therefore, after such certainty, it is determined that other appearing things of that place's meaning do not exist. Therefore, for the meaning of direct perception and its knowledge, it is said to be the absence of things. Therefore, the absence of things is established by the non-objectifiable that has become the nature of direct perception, therefore it is said that the terminology of absence with its reason is accomplished, that is, explaining "the reason for being able to be objectified," and so on. Whatever has the reason for being able to be objectified, that is the reason for being able to be objectified. When it is non-objectifiable, it is said that because it is not objectified by the characteristic of being able to be objectified, therefore it is absent. The terminology that precedes certainty is applied. This shows that the reason for the terminology of absence is the non-objectifiable itself. Therefore, the term "therefore" means that because it is the cause of the terminology of absence, that is, because it is non-objectifiable. The term "by showing the reason closely" means that in relation to this non-objectifiable, by this reason it is absent, whatever terminology is called "absence," that is the meaning of being accomplished by showing the reason. Thinking thus, whatever terminology is possessed by any reason, then seeing that reason, isn't it like applying the terminology of a tree, etc., to something that has leaves, etc., it enters by itself? Then how does this become the accomplishment of terminology by reason? Answer: It is said "to ignorance," the reason ends.
