When sensory consciousness arises, it does not have its own object, because it is a cause, so it is past. Therefore, that which arises simultaneously with sensory consciousness is the object of the consciousness of the second moment. Therefore, it arises simultaneously. Otherwise, if the cause object and the result consciousness arise simultaneously, then the cause and result themselves would not exist, so it is said "previously there was no ability" and so on. If the object of sensory consciousness is grasped immediately, then it would become grasping what has already been grasped. To this, it is said "this is the previous valid cognition" and so on. If it is a valid cognition of a determined object, then memory would also become a valid cognition, which would be too extreme. What is that like? "Not forgetting the seen action," it is said, because memory is no different from this. In order to show that even if it is similar to memory, it cannot become a valid cognition, it is said "from the action that has already been completed" and so on, because for something that has already been understood by consciousness, there is no need for another consciousness to prove it. Therefore, the latter is the prover, it is making the ununderstood understood. If things are permanent, therefore what was previously grasped by sensory consciousness, consciousness can also grasp, then consciousness is not a valid cognition. In order to clarify this, it is said "that thing becoming the wisdom of the cause" and so on, because there is no difference in the cause, so it is also contradictory for the sensory faculties and the consciousness of consciousness to arise sequentially. If they arise sequentially through the difference of arising simultaneously, then for something that has already been understood, because there is no change, it should not rely on others either. If they arise sequentially through the difference of action consciousness, then even if the actions are different, its author would also become other, and permanence itself would disappear. Therefore, since permanence is unreasonable, things are not momentary, because there is no past, so consciousness is not grasped by relying on approaching things. In this way, for the completion of one action, and the consciousness of one happiness, if they also each become valid cognitions through the difference of moments, then this is not desired. This is the valid cognition established through the power of names, because it does the same thing, so it is one valid cognition. If that is the case, then would consciousness also become an object that does the same thing as sensory consciousness? This is

Because yogis accept that moments are the objects of designation in conventional terms, therefore, since moments are different fruits in the ultimate sense, mind is a valid cognition in each moment. If it is said that since moments do not meet, they do not become valid cognitions, then the fact that one's own object is not harmed by another valid cognition is its infallibility. Alternatively, making the uncomprehended meaning clear is itself a valid cognition, and this mind also comprehends the uncomprehended object that can perform a function, so it obtains the nature of a valid cognition in the ultimate sense. This mind is also the remainder of the cessation of the sense consciousnesses. In the ultimate sense, since the moments are different, the mind generated by the condition of focusing on the characteristic of the moment of the nature other than the sense consciousness only understands other meanings. If a term is combined with other meanings different from sound and with sounds, then since even a little object other than oneself is not perceived, it is not possible to apply the term. If self-awareness makes the future sound its object, then those who have not arisen, such as happiness, whose nature is determined separately, should be made objects, but there is no true experience, because the self-experience is the characteristic of the nature of that which is born, so that is also not there. Thus, since it does not understand even a little other than itself, it does not combine with this self-expression, because there is no conception of parts, so it is contradictory to apply such an aspect of what is to be said and what is said to oneself. If it is said that even if there is no application of terms, it is focused on by the sound arising from the term, then because that self-awareness has not previously seen the self-nature of itself, the sound arising from the term says, "That former one is this one," because it has seen the former one. If it is said that the sound is first applied to oneself, then because the manifestation is that itself when one wants to express it, the object does not exist at the time of application. If it is said that it is the later consciousness, then because it is self-awareness, it is also said that "by another" and so on. Since the previous self-nature does not appear even at the time of the term, the term is also meaningless. Others are the Vaiseṣikas. One meaning is self.
