If there is doubt, it will become an uncertain reason that appears to be fallacious. If the two are not established, but instead are established in reverse, that is a contradictory reason that appears to be fallacious. The meaning of the text will be explained later. If doubt arises, that is tending towards "two." If there is doubt about the two, that is uncertain indecision. The example will be shown later. The way to show the example is, for example, "each part," and so on. "Not established" means the name of not established. Uncertainty is the cause of doubt. If one alone is not established, will it become not established? It is said, if the connection between the subject and the property is not established, that is a reason that appears to be fallacious because it is not established. The way to show the example is, for example, "sound is impermanent." What is perceived by the eye, because the connection with the subject, sound, is not established, therefore for both it is a reason that appears to be fallacious because it is not established. "The sentient is with mind," this is to be proven, because after peeling off all the bark, it dies, like a person. Here, "death" is considered as "drying up." In order to prove that trees and so on are alive, the proponent with sectarian views stated this reason, but the Buddhist opponent did not accept it. Again, why not accept the well-known death? It is said, consciousness, faculties, and life are life, consciousness is the warmth that does not err. The cessation of these is known to the Buddhists as the characteristic of death. Here, the naturally occurring faculties and life that are known to the world are stated, because what is known in the scriptures does not enter the path of reasoning. If the Buddhists accept such death, how can they not accept sentient beings? For what exists, there is manifestation, there is cessation, how can that not exist? Therefore, if death is established, then consciousness is also not to be proven, and if it is not established, then what is thought to be sentient? It is thought that even for trees, Buddhists use the term "death." Therefore, from following the term "death," the commonly known understanding is what is to be expressed, is that what is thought?
