Thus it is declared. Some say that "some" here refers to Dharmottara and others, starting from "smoke, etc." and ending with "is the main thing." Just as the knowledge of the qualified subject, the knowledge of the sign is also the object of the qualified subject, because it cannot arise without a sign, and its inevitable nature is the function of the sign, so the qualified subject is also included, which is the establishment of the tenets of Dharmottara and others. The debate presented to clarify this is, therefore, as it is said, it is excluded by the "maker of pleasure," which is related to a distant place. What is said is, here. Mentioning the sign is not appropriate, because this is the occasion of the knowledge of the qualified subject. Therefore, what is the use of analyzing the knowledge of the sign? If it is said that "that is also," it refers to the knowledge of the sign. If that is the case, it refers to the time when the knowledge of the sign becomes the nature of inference. It is meaningless to separately say the sign and the knowledge of the qualified subject. If the previous knowledge is the self-nature, then it is unreasonable to say that it is empty of appearance, which is saying, if the sign is recognized. If it is said that being empty of the image to be proven is delusion, then it will become too extreme, which is saying, the appearance of the qualified subject. That refers to what is to be proven, because it is not an object. If you ask where this comes from, then the pot is mentioned. If you want to know how this is proven, then the sign is mentioned. The same object refers to in the qualified subject. If it is said that the sign distinguished by the qualified subject is not even perception, then it is said, because it is not perception. Others think this way. If it is said that after stating and excluding after "if the sign is," etc., then at the time of holding the property of the subject, the common nature is similar, the relationship between the dharmas comes from inference, because it is not its object, so it is not from perception, in that case it will become endless, which is saying, if that is the case, it will become endless. How is it? It is said "in that," referring to in inference. Or, if you say "if the sign is," etc., then what is it?

From habituation, the sign of 'if that is not, it does not arise' is the very nature of 'if that is not, it does not arise.' To dispel the doubt of 'it is realization,' direct perception is merely the appearance of a sign, because it is unreasonable to hold onto 'if that does not appear, it is the very nature of if that does not arise.' The response is: Is 'it is so' the very object of direct perception? 'How does it become' is direct perception. 'If it is done' is an example for 'also grasping.' 'At that time' refers to the time of holding the dharma of the পক্ষ (paksha, the subject of inference). 'If it is so' refers to 'without.' 'That' is remembrance. 'To that' refers to 'the very nature of if that does not arise.' 'Why' is because it is प्रमाण (pramana, valid cognition) itself. 'However' is doubt. 'Then' is the answer. 'Inference' means because it arises from the sign by its own nature. 'That' refers to inference. 'Before' is from holding the dharma of the পক্ষ (paksha). 'To that' refers to 'the very nature of if that does not arise.' Because other explanations are not reasonable in that way, it is said so. If the word of the cognition of the sign, how does it express the cognition of the sign-possessor? The answer is: Truly spoken. The cognition of the sign-possessor, which has the object of the cause, how does it express the cognition of the sign-possessor with the word of the cognition of the sign? The answer is: There, it is because of the difference, namely for the cause and effect. That refers to the cognition of the sign. If one does not acknowledge that the nature of smoke does not arise from fire, then it is not a sign, so how does inference arise from it? The answer is: Extremely. For the nature that does not match the characteristics of the swarm of bees, etc., from extreme habituation, even if fire is not realized, the smoke that approximates by experiencing it extremely clearly generates inference, which is the meaning of 'it is the sign itself.' If there is no habituation, then it is said that only grasping unrelated to the sign of its own nature is the sign cognition, the answer is: 'Of smoke' is spoken. That itself is indeed smoke itself. Because that very form produced by fire is called smoke, smoke itself is related to it, and grasping it itself is also grasping related to it. From what is that itself realized?

It is also only from recognizing this point. When recognizing that "this itself is knowledge as a reason," it is also said in this way. If, for this inference, also because that nature reason is established in the property of the subject, it follows other inferences, so that there is no end, then it is because of very familiarity. Because if it is not so, then it is determined that non-existence does not arise, and the holding of the reason itself is unreasonable, therefore it is called self-characteristic. The association itself determined by others, whether it is the statement of understanding and holding, is only holding the subject of the reason, because there is no other distinction. What is said as "that's" refers to this. The association itself is the holding itself, this is the association. That is the general holding, it is inference, this is the association. Otherwise, what is said is not the nature of inference, but the knowledge of the reason. Inference is related to things, that itself is the summary, therefore it is called things, it is the thing to understand things, it is to understand things. The pervader is the cause, whose is it? It is said that the pervader is also of the mind. The pervader also becomes its nature or cause. The mind to be pervaded is also the cause of the wisdom of the pervader. If by what to understand things? If it is thought that there are other things to be accomplished, then the things to be accomplished are said. If it is thought that it is that way to be accomplished, then it is said because of what. If asked how it is its cause, then it is said that it is also. If it is so, then how is inference a valid cognition? That is also, the pervading mind is also. After determining that the inference with the object to be accomplished is a valid cognition, in order to determine the object with refutation, it is said non-apprehension. If asked by what, its knowledge of the object becomes a valid cognition, how is it related, then what is said is the meaning of the teacher. What is said as "everywhere" refers to refuting somewhere, all these are non-apprehension. Where does it come from? It is from the nature of the visible that the valid cognition is established, for those who speak with certainty, through the meaning of non-existence, it is another way of understanding.
