So it is. Then, what does it mean to say that due to great familiarity, the body remains in its natural state, and that it is determined to be a thing through definite examination? It means to understand the function of a thing. If so, why is it not a definition? To fully understand it, whether it is from definite examination or from other means, there will be no inverted understanding. That is true, but the external object and its ability to function are two different opposites. Thus, the external object itself is form, sound, etc., which are common, while the ability to function is only possessed by some forms, etc. Among them, when it is understood that the majority have the ability to function, then that is it itself; when it is discerned that it is only an appearance, and it is determined that this is the thing itself, then this is the entry. If so, the credibility of sounds and pictures, etc., is its function, thus it is shown. Stating differently is because the knowers are different. Some easily understand the object of valid cognition through the means of non-deception, while others understand it through the means that are not to be understood by others. These two definitions are also present in the Bhagavan without any obstruction, such as pointing out nearby, making people see the path of liberation in the heavens, and showing the things that are not seen by Vishnu and Ishvara, etc. Thus, from the definition, showing the latter without relying on the former and then explaining, not being satisfied with this, relying on the aspect of different objects, showing that both definitions are meaningful, this is "or else." The former definition is conventional, and the latter is ultimate, this is the concluding remark. If saying "unknown meaning," etc., is an argument. This is what is thought: In "the clarifier of the unknown meaning," because "meaning" is said, if taking things without function, because of the fear of the definition being confused, here it is only wanting the external object. The external object also exists because of the difference between the definitions of self-character and general-character, so the knowledge of general-character also becomes valid cognition, this is what is said. Similarly, in relations, etc., it refers to things of possession, aggregation, and cause and effect, etc.

The connection is that through the sound of "ོགས་པའི་," the very fact of not knowing qualities and activities, etc., is revealed. The so-called "དེ་ཡང་" refers to the knowledge that arises later. If it is thought that the knowledge that arises later is memory because it grasps the grasped, then "འདི་" is mentioned. Why? Because it is said "མ་བཟུང་བ་," meaning it is thought that the direct perception that grasps its own characteristic does not grasp universals, etc. The so-called "རང་གི་མཚན་ཉིད་ཀྱི་རྣམ་པར་ཤེས་པ་," etc., is a summary. If one doubts, "Isn't it the very non-comprehension of the universal? If one comprehends the universal, how can it become valid cognition?" then "རང་རིག་པ་" is stated. This is how it is thought: If Buddhists do not accept the universal of external phenomena, even so, they do accept the universal of the aspect of mind becoming common. Moreover, because it is comprehended by self-awareness itself, there is no dispute about comprehension. Even so, how is one's own desired universal established? Therefore, "གལ་ཏེ་" is stated. What changes is one's own desire. The so-called "འོན་ཏེ་བདག་ཉིད་དུ་གྱུར་པ་" is the desire of the Buddhists. With respect to the aspect of becoming self, is that knowledge not self-awareness itself? Moreover, since it is considered valid cognition itself, how can it not be accepted? Here, too, this is what is thought: If the aspect of mind particularly clings to the nature of external objects, it is generally accepted, but even so, it is for the sake of preventing one's own nature. To speak of self-awareness is not beautiful. Therefore, because it tends towards external objects, the very conceptualization of it becomes valid cognition. The established conclusion is stated: If, like the knowledge of two moons, the knowledge of the universal is also certainly established as not valid cognition from investigation, even so, having accepted that the universal is existence itself or non-grasped itself, and that its knowledge is also not valid cognition due to the power of a person's particular clinging, the answer is "རང་གི་མཚན་ཉིད་མ་ཤེས་པ་," etc. The connection is that the universal is also not valid cognition. To clarify this itself is "སྤྱི་མ་ཤེས་པ་ནི་." The so-called "རང་གི་མཚན་ཉིད་དཔྱད་ཕྱིར་རོ" is for the sake of establishing its own characteristic as only existence and non-existence itself.
