The accomplishment of qualities is declared. All goodness arises from this, and the Blessed One's goodness is unmixed with non-goodness, which is a summary statement. It does not manifestly accomplish benefits that have harming others as their essence, because it acts with compassion, and it has no distinction for all beings. Benefits that have harming as their essence arise from desire, such as killing Asuras to purify the gods. Declaring the one who possesses such a nature, it is said, "Rays of light shine everywhere," which declares the clarity that pervades all meanings. It is a summary statement of "all-knowing." Although the main purpose is understood through the excellence of the composition, it is not shown closely by being dependent on others, but it is considered that only by habituation is it well entered, which is said to be the result of the composition, such as "for many ordinary people." Although I have not thought that this treatise I want to compose will benefit others, the mind has long been pleased with this timely collection of treatises because it is accustomed to upholding whatever good speech has become a main part of the benefit of a man. Why is it not beneficial to others? Stating the reason: Many people are attached to treatises that show the nature of worldly terms. Even so, because they see that there is no essence in the world, will they enter the path beyond the world? The answer is: because there is no power of wisdom. Because fools do not have the ability to distinguish between essence and non-essence, they cannot grasp the meaning. If someone has no ability, but does not seek meaning and becomes hateful. For some who hold their own lineage, clinging to their own things, although a treatise that is well combined with love and only with the intention of benefiting, others see its qualities with the thought of others, and also give rise to the stain of jealousy, which is the cause of generating hatred. Therefore, for this reason, this treatise cannot benefit others, so although the main purpose is a part, this habituation.

Therefore, one can enter. Here, because the aim is to comment on texts such as those that have become valid cognitions (pramāṇa), even though it is a commentary on the Compendium of Valid Cognition, its order is abandoned, and inference is first explained by means of "the property of the subject," etc. In order to prevent it from becoming unreasonable, the commentary explains the necessity, which is "meaning," etc. Meaning is the nature of what truly exists. Non-meaning is the opposite of that, i.e., forms, etc., which exist conventionally, or the non-existent such as Īśvara and Viṣṇu, and rabbit horns. Differentiating them is the wisdom that has them as its object, i.e., following whatever appears or whatever is promised, the dharma that has become the nature of the dharma that is understood, whether it exists truly or does not exist. If the dharma that has become the nature of something is analyzed, then it will be understood; for example, if the nature of meat is analyzed, it will be shown to indicate a relationship like wood. That depends on inference. It abides in inference, because it has become the root, therefore inference obtains its own nature. Inference is that which has manifest connection, therefore inference is the root of such behavior. When analyzing by understanding the nature of another dharma, one makes another dharma understood. Therefore, when analyzing the connection itself, one understands it in that way, so its root is connection. Therefore, that is shown by showing inference itself. Its meaning is this: in order to explain the teacher's view, when establishing the valid cognition of the result of the measurable being established, one must undoubtedly rely on some means. Among them, the means of establishing the measurable is valid cognition. The thing itself cannot be established because it lacks the nature of awareness. If it is clear, its own entity will be established, therefore things are established through awareness. Even so, awareness is no different, and it also comes from valid cognitions such as sound, because they are measurable such as matter and action, so they must be established by thinkers who have become worldly.

English
The toil of complete conceptualization is meaningless. If, like this, it is thought that cognition that is established as cognition itself is not cognition, then, whatever is not an establishment of the aspect of another cognition, or because by its very nature of doubt it does not abide in any part, therefore it does not abide by itself, and for the unarisen cognition of blue, etc., it is that very cognition that establishes worldly things, and not consciousnesses such as dreams. Like sense consciousness, it also comes from conceptual consciousness, and also from things like measuring close to sound. If you say that whatever establishes worldly things, established by worldly valid cognition, is itself an ornament, that is true, but the treatise will become like an account book written by a calculator. Or, if you think that the treatise is entered into by the power of the unskilled who understand what is established by worldly people as inverted, then that too is the very form previously stated, with the result of showing worldly things. If there is a need to seek meaning, then it will be understood from the world itself, so the treatise itself is meaningless. If it is not so, then it is the same from the treatise. If it is said that being inverted would also lead to confusion about what is seen, then the reversal of confusion about what is seen, which is found by worldly valid cognition, will be understood by seeking meaning from the world itself. If it is argued that the treatise is entered into for the purpose of understanding the worldly path because it is likely to be inverted, then if that reasoning is also the nature of worldly cognition, then the treatise is meaningless. If it becomes something else, then from what is it understood? If inferring about its son, etc., is the result of reversing the error, then if those are worldly, they cannot be reversed. If it is something else, then it is reversed from the world itself. Therefore, when something that is not a thing is seen, and when a worldly person who is not skilled in seeing approaches, the wise person composes a treatise in order to examine cognition and what is to be cognized, and for that, too, the entry of method and things is subsequently understood. That has been explained by the explanation of inference, that is, another valid cognition in one's own continuum.
