Transformation. If it is not external, why doesn't it transform into self-awareness? That is not made very clear by other appearances either. Therefore, it is said, if you want mind to mind, mind is self-realized. If it is not so, the object is also the same as the mind, having the same nature. If because of the mind that is very clear in itself, the mind is transferred to the mind, the mind can illuminate the mind, then the mind itself is the knower. It is not so, if the mind itself is not clear, it will also become the illuminator of the mind because it has the same nature with it. Therefore, tracing back, the mind itself is very clear in the clear essence, and by transferring the essence to others, it is very clear for clarity. The object to be illuminated of form and mind, and the thing that illuminates are just like that, for example, one is very clear in itself, and the other is produced from its nature. If one mind is very clear in itself, but the other is similar to the object to be illuminated, for example, like grasping the image of the father, even if it is similar, it does not want the other mind to be very clear. Because it is very clear in itself, it is very clear through its essence. What is not clear is illuminated by others, and clarity itself is not clear merely by being the same as the mind. Ultimately, what is not clear is also not clear. How to make things very clear? In the essence of things, it is clear through the nature of clarity, not illuminated by others. Minds, etc., are also not objects that make the illuminated other things because they are the same as being very clear in themselves, for example, like two lamps, butter lamps and vases, etc., also rely on it, and through the essence of the illuminated and the illuminator, the name becomes very prosperous. Two lamps have similarity and generation, but mutual illumination is not the thing of the illuminator. Then what about the two, the butter lamp and the vase? Because in the collection of butter lamps, the vase is produced in that essence. Therefore, that is also clear through being very clear in itself, not through others. Similarly, from following and contradicting, etc., from the object of conceptual thought.

Thus, it is so in terms of conventional language, but in terms of ultimate truth, it can be elaborated upon. Merely by means of the object and the sense faculty, it is not certain to be called "seeing." Therefore, that from which this transforms, undoubtedly that other will also be seen. If it is determined that seeing occurs merely by means of the object and the sense faculty, then it will necessarily follow that everything is seen. If it is argued that it is precisely because it is capable of being seen that it is determined as "seeing," then what is this "capable of being seen"? Where does seeing arise? Is not asking what "seeing" is, the same as asking about that itself? Where do the eye and so forth manifest? How is it understood that "the eye manifests"? To that, how can it be named by seeing itself, thus there is no end. Or, if it is determined merely by the arising of seeing, then what is this "capable of being seen"? From where does seeing arise? Because it is precisely from experience that it can be determined. Merely by means of the experience of experiencing, it is not certain to be "experiencing," just as without experiencing white, it cannot be determined as white. Therefore, a certain determination that follows experience, transforming in that way, transforms precisely from experience itself. Such determination is reasonable. From memory also, self-awareness is established. If consciousness is cognized by another consciousness, then it will not be possible to apprehend long and other such things, because many subsequent consciousnesses cannot exist. Not only is self-awareness established from the difference between the consciousness that knows the object and the consciousness itself, but it is also established from memory. If it is argued that only experience is established from memory, not self-awareness, and that memory can also reasonably arise from the experience of another consciousness, then that is an unacceptable answer. If consciousness is cognized by another consciousness, then it will not be possible to apprehend long and other such things, because many subsequent consciousnesses cannot exist. For example, just as when short and non-dual are combined, it cannot exist. It has already been shown that what does not exist cannot be cognized simultaneously with what exists. It is precisely because long and very long and other such things cannot be apprehended. If each subsequent consciousness apprehends, then it will not be possible to apprehend long and other such things, nor will it be possible to cognize division. If it is argued that the earlier and later are combined and then cognized, that is not correct, because that is also an object of cognition. Long
