If so, there will be no end. Moreover, due to other and different discriminations, there is no completeness. Therefore, one should abandon oneself through this. How does one abandon oneself? Thus, meditating on suffering is meaningless. In what way is it meaningless? Likewise, meditating on suffering is also meaningless, because meditating on suffering cannot cause separation from attachment. Furthermore, if there is detachment from me, then who is detached from what now? Just like me, that is not to be abandoned, so meditating on suffering becomes meaningless. Meditating on suffering is not able to abandon. Just as attachment and detachment from me are not the cause of abandonment, so too, there is no 'mine'. Therefore, detachment from that, with detachment, one will not be liberated. Therefore, meditating on suffering is also meaningless, like this: those who meditate on suffering only become aware of suffering itself. That is already manifest. Even so, there is no detachment. If meditating on suffering leads to detachment, what desire would become reasonable? This does not lead to detachment. Meditating on suffering is the very cause of bringing suffering forward. If it is not like that, then this will not lead to detachment, because by meditating, one knows the cause of suffering, so in any case, one should cause detachment. It is not like that, because that suffering is already manifest, because there is certainty of what has already arisen manifestly. If it is not like that, then one will not seek to completely abandon samsara. Suffering that has not been made manifest is not what torments. Even so, there is no detachment, therefore meditating on suffering is meaningless. Suffering such as detachment is manifest to all the world. If one does not become detached at that time, how can meditating on suffering lead to detachment? If meditating on suffering sums up all suffering by remembering it, then one knows the great aggregate of suffering, therefore there is only detachment.
