That I, which arises from causes with different characteristics, is not so. Why? Because those arising from all modes see destruction. For those who have causes arising from all modes, words are arranged in this way. Moreover, all those who possess birth are established as being destroyed, and this has already been refuted in such a context. If another objects, saying, "Does that which possesses birth itself become the nature of destruction, and if it is not that which possesses birth, then is it not so?" then those arising from all modes also acknowledge that it is the nature of destruction. Moreover, the proponent of established conclusions (referring to the Sarvastivadins) also says, "Impermanence, selflessness, no difference." Having said this, because it is established that that which possesses birth itself is destruction, if it is said that it is not a response that is in accordance with the objection, then it is thought that that which does not possess birth does not exist. If that is the case, then those who assert that space and so forth are not that which possesses birth must undoubtedly be committed to performing the function of meaning, because what is related to it is not existence. Those who perform the function of meaning will also do so at some times, because all those considered to be its fruits are not visible at any time. If that is the case, then those will also obtain the characteristics distinguished by co-operators, because at some times, even without dependence, cause and effect are contradictory. Therefore, those will also obtain the birth of meaning. If that is the case, then it should be acknowledged that those who possess birth themselves are not of the nature of destruction, which is also unreasonable, and therefore, this is what is shown by "Impermanence, selflessness, no difference." Collection and so forth are others, things arising from causes of all kinds, those will be destroyed, is this not also uncertain? Why? Because those who see on this shore have not seen all those collections of causes, because they have not grasped all of them. If, because some collections are seen to produce destruction, even if they are not seen, but their kind

If someone asks, 'Since it is so certain, then say 'collection' and so forth, connecting the words to 'having various abilities.' The collection, that is, the ability to see the cause's power, from which, even if some collections among the various abilities of the collection have changed, then what can produce the nature of things that does not have the nature of destruction?' The answer is, 'No,' and so forth, to answer this, because this fault does not exist. Why is that? Because this is the occasion of knowledge, that is, the occasion of proving that the knowledge of things itself is momentary. To illustrate this, it is said, 'At certain times,' and so forth, that is, at certain times, in certain places, some sprouts can understand the meaning, while some cannot, and these are the inherent, continuous destructions. The nature of knowledge is also created, because doing meaningful things itself is created, therefore they themselves are proven to be impermanent. Even if they only have the nature of knowledge, they cannot function, because they themselves are not things. What is the use of proving impermanence? Proving that knowledge itself is momentary is the most important. Even so, how can there be destruction with nature and continuity? Therefore, it is said, 'Any,' and so forth, that is, any nature that previously produced knowledge, they are indestructible, because even if they abide in that nature, it is impossible to produce, because abiding in nature is contradictory to not producing. The idea that relying on co-actors, they produce at certain times, is also not acceptable. Because it is impossible to rely on others, connect 'impossible.' Why is that? Because its nature of production, that is, the nature of producing knowledge, is produced from its own cause. If those who do not rely are also known at certain times? Therefore, it is said, 'Those who do not rely,' and so forth, and the word 'also' is certain.
