Whatever arises from a cause, possessing the object of a sign, also comes through the cause; thus, it is born from the cause. In this way, the two minds will also become the same. Whatever is a subsequent arising of direct perception, possessing the object of a sign, is also termed as valid cognition (pramana), because it is the very cause of valid cognition. The pervader is both cause and nature, because it pervades the signs of effect and nature. The pervader is also of two kinds. The pervaded is also of two kinds: the mind is the reason for knowing the sign. The cause is the reason for knowing that focuses on the sign of the effect, and nature is the reason for knowing that focuses on the sign of nature. Although one might want to change it, therefore, it is the object to be realized of things. The pervaded is the pervader of the sign. If one were to ask whether it is necessary to mention the mind in saying such things, therefore, it is said, "Whatever is the reason for the sign," and so on. Here it is said that if the mind is not mentioned, then for things that have cause and effect, it would become only the reason for the effect that is explained, and not the reason for nature. Because nothing is directly perceived. Hearing "because nothing is directly perceived" does not mean that for any contradictory thing, negation is done by establishing something else. Therefore, in "if there is no admission of the reversal of valid cognition," and so on, one should look at the phrase "becoming the characteristic of the object." That "and" refers to coldness and so on, which one wants to negate. The meaning to be established is that what was just said contradicts the nature of the negator, or contradicts its cause. When saying that there is form and mass, for example, here there is no cold touch, because there is form or there is mass. For this statement, it is to dispel the doubts of the two faults of uncertainty and non-establishment. Because merely saying that there is one is not a special reason, because there is no connection, so it is uncertain. If saying that there is form and mass is not contradictory, then what?

Like this, there is no cold touch here because there is fire. Therefore, this is unestablished, because it contradicts saying there is fire. To eliminate the first fault, here it is also said "universal" etc. The reason for saying "no difference" is that if there is a contradiction, even if one does not admit non-perception to establish the contradiction, one cannot determine other ways. Even if it exists, if it is not determined, it is like it does not exist. If there is no difference in establishing contradiction and non-contradiction, then where would one suspect of going wrong? The reason for saying "if the reason has a difference, it will change" means that if the contradiction is determined to change. Even if the contradiction is determined from non-perception itself, it is as previously stated, because there is no difference. To eliminate the fault of unestablished, it is also said "to refute anything" etc. To show that there is no difference. The reason for saying "if because of contradiction" is to welcome the doubts of others' thoughts. The reason for saying "there is no difference in unestablished itself" is because, because it is unestablished itself, there is no difference. The reason for saying "having incomplete cause" is because it has incomplete cause, therefore it is itself the characteristic of perception. If there is such a cold touch, then that is direct perception completely cutting off, this is the meaning of summarizing. Approaching the fire, one must also understand beforehand that it itself has an incomplete cause, if it exists, then the causes are also incomplete. If it is not like that, even if approaching the fire, one will perceive the cold touch with incomplete causes. If fire is perceived, then from that, one approaches it itself. The reason for saying "from that" is because from perceiving cold, later not perceiving, that is approaching it itself, because taking approaching the fire itself as the reason, one does not see cold. This is not a valid means of knowledge, this is the scripture. The reason for saying "is non-perception" is the explanation of it, what you say for the sake of establishing contradiction without seeing appearance, that itself is not a valid means of knowledge, but is called non-perception.
