Because they cannot understand, they not only do not value the words well spoken by the teacher, but also become hateful towards the teacher, and so on. The words well spoken by the teacher are not only not valued, but also become completely hateful due to the defilements of jealousy towards the teacher Dharmakirti. For example, habituation to good speech generates diligence. Even if interrupted, it is only a connection. As the scripture says: 'Whatever is connected to whatever, even if far away, is no different from it.' That is why it is said. Good speech is the good words spoken by the teacher, and one becomes accustomed to it. Diligence is generated towards it. For the teacher Dharmakirti, it is only extreme hatred that is called that. This shows that the teacher Dharmakirti has accumulated merit and wisdom. Only those who have accumulated merit and wisdom will generate diligence through habituation to good speech. Because there is no power of wisdom, they do not value the good words spoken by the teacher and are attached to the ordinary, therefore, this 'Treasury of Logic on Validity' is not the most beneficial. Beneficial is benefit, it is its nature. Because this will not become the most supreme benefit, it is not the most beneficial. A little benefit does exist, which is indicated by 'mostly.' Therefore, the word 'therefore' is the cause. Because of this cause, although my treatise is of great significance, it has not benefited many. Therefore, how can this truly be made fruitful? Thinking like this, and so on, is also there. The word 'also' indicates that even a slight hatred towards someone like the teacher Bodhisattva is a cause of destruction. Therefore, I have fully explained the teacher's tradition without reversing it, thereby generating respect for the teacher, thereby reversing from the cause of destruction, and such compassion wishing to be free from suffering also exists. Regarding the phrase 'later joy arose in this,' the second word 'later' indicates reflection and compassion, etc.

It is shown to be illusory. Because of these two, mind and compassion, from a long time ago, joy arose for the discourse that gathers all treatises on valid cognition, and thus a continuous desire arose. If the teacher Dharmakirti intended to explain the Compendium on Valid Cognition, why did he speak of meaning and non-meaning, etc., in order to dispel the doubt of 'arbitrarily establishing this inference'? Meaning is benefit, non-meaning is non-benefit, and it is to distinguish these. This is because it relies on inference, and the words should be combined in this way: upon what does inference exist? Inference determines meaning and non-meaning, and in order to make the wisdom that arises after inference continuous, and in order to sequentially accept and reject meaning and non-meaning, it is specifically established. Therefore, distinguishing meaning and non-meaning relies on inference. Some explain it this way: the so-called 'with inverted discrimination' is said in order to establish inference with inverted discrimination. Here, it is necessary to consider: if we temporarily think that, just because distinguishing meaning and non-meaning relies on inference, it is not permissible to determine it in this way. Because the third thing other than meaning and non-meaning, which is the object to be abandoned, also relies on inference. Moreover, distinguishing meaning and non-meaning is also not certain, because relying on direct perception is unavoidable. So, what should be shown first, in order to say that inference is particularly excellent? Or, if we think that, just because distinguishing meaning and non-meaning relies solely on inference, and determine it in this way, then such a determination is also unreasonable. Because distinguishing meaning and non-meaning also relies on direct perception. In this way, the nature of distinguishing meaning and non-meaning itself appears in direct perception, and direct
