pas so. This is called refuting the unestablished answer of others, because attachment to self, completely craving and possessing from happiness, will take the cycle that turns into suffering. Therefore, the fault of attachment is the cause of suffering, thus it is established as having faults. The argument is that whatever is the basis of suffering is faulty and should be abandoned, like a finger bitten by a snake. Attachment to self is also the basis of suffering, which is considered to be the reason of self-nature. If again, because it is the basis of suffering, having faults should be abandoned, even so, here there is no detachment, for attachment to self. From where or how, because seeing oneself, like me. How for me, one's own mind is the cause, even if I am the cause of suffering, it is not without desire, so for my attachment, when taken as oneself, even if it is the basis of suffering, it will not become without desire, thus it is shown as uncertain. The argument is also that whatever is the only certainty of a person's own mind, even if that has faults, it is not without desire, like oneself. A person who is attached to me has his own mind uniquely determined, which is considered to be a contradictory realm. Although it will change like that, if it is not like that, I am suffering. Not the cause, because it has the mind and roots that are attached to me. I am the cause of suffering, but not alone, so attachment to me is faulty, but I am not. The argument is that whatever is the cause of suffering because it has something, it is faulty for that, not others, such as a finger being the cause of suffering because it has poison, just as it has faults at that time. I am also the cause of suffering because I have attachments, which is considered the reason of self-nature. That is also the same as that. How I alone am not the cause of suffering,

However, since attachment to self and so on is with faith, therefore, attachment to self is not arbitrary. However, since it possesses self, it does not wish self to have faults. Therefore, the reason is uncertain. Thus, both are without fault. Just as the self is not the cause of suffering, therefore it is not with fault, likewise, no-self, attachment to self and so on are also not the cause of suffering, therefore, attachment to self and so on are also not with fault. Because in this way both are the same, there is no additional cause for attachment to self and separation. Therefore, neither is attachment nor separation. Just as attachment to self and the senses, etc., and the self with the same faults, are not attachment and separation, likewise, the faults that are the same as the self, attachment to self and so on will not become attachment and separation. Commentary on the Compendium on Valid Cognition, Chapter Twenty. The formulation is: whatever has the same faults as something, then, just because it is the state of not having that thing, it is not the object of desire and separation. For example, among two people with the same faults, the state of not having one of them, just because of this reason, desire and separation will not affect others. Desire and so on also have the same faults as the self, which is called pervasive contradiction. Although it can be transformed in this way, if by cultivating suffering, it transforms like holding the limbs of a snake. A person's attachment to self and so on will cultivate suffering, and by cultivating suffering, there will also be desire and separation from attachment to self and so on. For example, just as a snake grabs a limb, mistakenly thinking it is oneself, one will also abandon it because of having cultivated suffering, so the reason is not established. The formulation is: whoever has the cultivation of suffering towards something, then, there will be attachment and separation towards that thing. For example, like a person cultivating holding the limbs of a snake. A person who wants liberation also has the cultivation of suffering towards attachment to self and so on, which is called the reason of nature.

Such is the mind. My mind is destroyed here, it is abandonment, not return. As long as the function of the mind that relies on enjoying a limb bitten by a snake is not lost, one is not happy to abandon it. When its own nature no longer exists, from then on, this limb is no longer a basis for enjoyment, and when my mind abandons it, the limb will be abandoned. This shows uncertainty. Therefore, as long as my mind exists, it will not be abandoned. For the senses and so on that are enjoyed, holding them as a basis, is holding them as accomplishing the basis of enjoyment. The word "etc." means holding the body's senses and so on. By what is one's own mind turned back? From where does attachment and non-attachment arise for this? In reality, it is not so. Thus, this is obvious to all beings. For example, when hair and so on grow on the body, there is no difference between limbs and branches, possessing merits and faults are the same, just like that, a mind arises for things with faults. One's own mind has not realized, because it is separated from the mind of "it is my basis of enjoyment." Just as attachment arises for others, if hair and so on are not separated from the body, and are completely held as one's own, it will be like the arising of a mind of attachment. In combination, for what is held as accomplishing the basis of enjoyment, then its own mind will not return, like the man in the previous state, for the senses and so on of his body, like his own mind. Even if a man wants to be free from desire, he will also hold the later body's senses and so on as accomplishing the basis of enjoyment, this is the observation of contradictory causes. For what is held as one's own, one will not be free from desire, like the man in the previous state. This man will also hold the later body's senses and so on as his own, this is the observation of pervasive contradiction. If something exists, it will change, and if something different from it exists, it will also not exist,
