And, faults are because of being inverted, so there is no effort for arising. Mind, in some ways, although possessing diligence in generating faults, mind is for clinging to that side. In order to cling to the path possessing qualities that have become the antidote to faults, the faults do not harm the path. What is it like? Harmlessness and true meaning, for the nature are inverted. The path is the nature of harmlessness, because all harm is the nature of peace and happiness. It is the nature of true meaning, because it is the object of aspects such as impermanence. Therefore, it is said to be possessing the companionship of valid individuals. The faults inverted from the nature as spoken, along with faults, are not harmed by those who are not companions of valid individuals. The remainder should be understood as explained above. The seeing of selflessness, which is the antidote to attachment to self, etc., the path that has already been spoken of, from habituation to that, the basis will become pure, there is no certainty in what is said like that, like this, even if attachment and hatred are mutually contradictory, but, one is very habituated, is the other not very weakened? That is, attachment and anger are mutually, although the natures are different, there is no harm. Why are those very contradictory? Self-grasping is the only cause, because attachment and hatred, etc., have one cause. The only cause is the view of self, the only cause from those, if the cause exists, one will arise, like that, when the cause arises it, undoubtedly it is because of being close. From that, conditions are as they are, others also arise, how is it contradictory like that? Not being able to accommodate simultaneously is also because the mind that is close cannot project two minds of the same kind. The nature of cause and effect is not mutually contradictory, for whom there is attachment to self, for that also there is hatred for harming that, like that, attachment and hatred

If it is the cause of something, then that which is the cause of something is not incompatible with that thing. The argument is that whatever has the same cause is not of the nature to be harmed and to harm simultaneously with that thing, like fire and smoke arising from the same characteristic of a tree. Claiming that desire and hatred also have the same cause is because the contradiction that is universally present is obvious. Those things that have become the essence of cause and effect do not harm each other due to the power of extreme habituation, for example, viewing self as self and attachment to self. Claiming that attachment to the aggregates of decay and hatred also become the essence of cause and effect is because the contradiction that is universally present is obvious. If love and impurity, etc., are the antidotes to hatred, etc., then why is it not desired to completely cut off faults? The answer is: Because love, etc., are not incompatible with delusion. There is no contradiction with the cause of the antidotes of delusion and with love, etc., which are directed towards sentient beings. Therefore, love, etc., do not completely limit faults. However, as long as the habituation of minds of different kinds remains, they will not arise completely during that time. All faults have that as their root. That delusion is also the view of the aggregates of decay. In that way, Because there is no harm to the cause of the faults, the faults are not completely removed from the root. Therefore, love, etc., are not the best methods. The argument is that whatever does not harm the cause of something does not cause great harm to that thing, for example, substances that are sticky, oily, and cool do not harm the cause of phlegm disease, so they do not harm the disease. Claiming that love, etc., directed towards sentient beings also do not harm the cause of the arising of afflictions, the view of the aggregates of decay, is because the contradiction that is universally present is obvious. The medicine for wind, bile, and phlegm, such as sesame oil, etc., is said to be the antidote to love, etc., which have the same nature as hatred, etc., also because it is considered that at that time, merely harming the manifest movement is the antidote, or because it is love, etc., directed towards the Dharma.
