Therefore, it has already been explained by the words, "This characteristic of merely being accustomed to seeing reality is just being accustomed to means." When the meditation of the path with the characteristic of seeing selflessness arises from being accustomed to that path, the basis will be completely transformed. If there exists a mind with extremely unarising dharma and accompanied by faults, then the mind will abide in the nature of that path, that is its meaning. Although it will transform in that way, if even when accustomed, just like the path, faults arise, just as the mind abiding in the nature of faults arises in the form of the path, similarly abiding in the accustomed path also produces faults, therefore there is no liberation, if it is said like that, then that fault does not exist. Why? Because there is no ability. Because the mind abiding in the accustomed path does not have the ability to produce faults again. Therefore, the nature of the mind is the nature of seeing reality, not the nature of faults associated with inverted appearances. The afflictions nearby here are also due to sudden causes. If it is harmful to it, then the mind abiding in its own nature will not again become the basis of faults, because it is the nature that enters by the power of things. Combination is, if something by nature becomes a certain nature, due to the power of causes it appears in other forms, then when completely separated from the causes, obtaining its own nature, it will not become the basis of that nature, for example, gold is pure by nature, due to the cause of mixing it becomes mixed, when completely purified, abiding in its own nature, it will not be liberated from the impure nature. Or like this, the mind itself is by nature a rope, the nature that appears in the form of a rope, due to the power of causes it appears as a snake, when that cause completely disappears, it will not be clung to as a snake. The mind is also the nature of seeing reality by nature, due to the power of causes it appears in other forms, this is the object of pervasive contradictory action. It is not unestablished, like this, if asked what is the dharma of consciousness

Therefore, as far as the ultimate truth is concerned, consciousness is considered to be grasping objects, so it should be said that consciousness is the dharma of grasping objects. When consciousness becomes the dharma of all objects that are objects, how does it grasp the object as it is, with the aspect of impermanence, etc.? It does not grasp with the aspect of non-existence. If this is the case, it is reasonable that consciousness truly takes the object as an object. Therefore, whatever is not truly known is due to external or other sudden causes of confusion, for example, the perception of a snake on a rope in a direction that resembles a snake but is not clear. Therefore, whatever grasps the appearance of an object is the nature of the mind. If, on the other hand, the very act of grasping incorrectly is the nature, then it is not the dharma of grasping objects. In this way, since how consciousness takes an object as an object, but the reality is not so, and how the reality is so, but consciousness does not take it as an object, therefore, consciousness will become something without an object. Whatever thing, whatever is an object or an object-possessor, in this way, all things cannot be established, because consciousness is also merely focused on the aspect of inversion. This is the statement when establishing the objects of objects and object-possessors. Therefore, it is only because of wanting the objects of objects and object-possessors that it should be said that the dharma of consciousness is grasping objects. In this way, the nature of this consciousness is grasping the appearance of a true object. Whatever changes into another aspect is caused by sudden causes. The reasoning is that whatever aspect does not exist in something, then consciousness does not recognize it by grasping the nature of that thing, for example, there is no aspect of suffering in happiness, and the consciousness of happiness does not recognize suffering. Similarly, for the five aggregates of grasping, saying that they do not have the aspects of permanence, pleasure, self, and mine, this is pervasive and not established. Whatever does not have a certain aspect in something, but consciousness grasps that thing, then this is an illusion caused by a sudden cause of confusion, for example, the perception of a snake on a rope. For the five aggregates of grasping, the aspects of permanence, etc.
