Furthermore, if it is said that the cause of desire is the very cause of manifesting qualities, then there is no difference, and thus everything would become possessors of qualities. But this is not the case, therefore, as previously stated, desire and so forth are arising, not possessors of qualities. If it is thought that because the perceptions of impurity and so forth are unequal, therefore not everything is a possessor of qualities, then, in that case, relying on the mind that follows after the perception of self and what belongs to self when it is equal, desire and so forth will change, and thus, because it is the object of experience that has previously arisen in the same category, there is nothing at all that is undesirable. If it is said that desire and so forth arise from the nature of faults, then, beings in a certain state will be attached. Just like beings with the nature of white lotus, desire, which is the opposite of anger, also abides in its own nature and will not become hateful. Why? Because desire and hatred, and their essence, are not the same. Because they are contradictory. Because they are contradictory, therefore hatred and contradiction, and the nature of desire, which is also called phlegm, the hatred abiding in it will not change. Combination is: whatever abides in a nature that is contrary to what arises will not become its cause of arising, just as fire is not the cause of arising cold. Saying that this being also abides in the nature of desire, which is contrary to hatred, is pointing out the difference of contradiction. The change of hatred abiding in it cannot be seen with certainty, nor can it be inferred. In some cases, desire and hatred abiding in its own nature, as well as jealousy and stinginess, and so forth. Inferring two objects of experience from the aggregation of two natures is also too obvious because the objects of experience are the same. If, like some things such as dust arising from the nature of bile, there are cases of entering and leaving at certain times, then to think that this is also the case in this respect is not correct, because they are not the same. Relying on some other reasons such as heat and cold, dust...

The existence and non-existence of things like that are as they are in accordance with reason. Therefore, it is reasonable for them to enter and return. Here, the cause of those arising from the mind is not shown as stated. If it is not something else that exists, then what can prevent it? If, for this, conceptualization is also considered a branch, then conceptualization is also the seed of the nature of names such as self and what belongs to self, purity and happiness, etc. Merely faults, not those who enter, such as desire, etc., then it is not their dharma. If someone says that, then will his fault not appear here? No, because it is incomparable. Because desire and so on are not the cause of faults. Then what is it? Different habits of the same kind. The coarse one is the one who enters. For desire and so on, all attachment to self and what belongs to self depends on the difference of the same kind and cause to enter and arise. Those are completely awakened by various different consciousnesses, those that fully awaken other habits. When the conditions are close, what is the change? When saying that, the fault as stated will not appear. Desire and so on are the dharma of wind and so on, just refuted, so it should be understood that the nature of birth is prevented. Because the faults of wind and so on are the nature of birth. For example, the dharma of wind and fire and water is not like desire and so on. The support is also rejected. Because the support of existence and non-existence is also not. Because the support of the mind has already been rejected by "because" and so on. It should be understood that the nature of desire and so on being the support of birth has already been rejected. I will not say it again. Those are also like this, from form and so on and other births, admitting that it is a real thing and saying that it is not a support. If it is not like that, there is not even a little other substance or non-other substance born from form and sound and smell and taste and touch, then from what is that support? Merely birth is also the five places of form and so on.
