For example, the increase and decrease of the distinguishing feature of a lamp's illumination do not depend on the increase and decrease of the distinguishing feature of the wick's illumination. Similarly, the light of the lamp experiences excellence and decline. The increase and decrease of the distinguishing feature of the mind's activity do not depend on the increase and decrease of the distinguishing feature of the body's activity. Wisdom and so forth experience excellence and decline. This is called the reason of nature. With respect to the two to be proven, the pervasion of contradiction is established. Through that body, the distinguishing feature of the excellence of wisdom and so forth will arise, but not because the mind is helpful. Through the very means of the mind being helpful, the body will become helpful to wisdom and so forth. This is because of the increase and decrease of the distinguishing feature of the mind's activity. The very non-dependence on the increase and decrease of the distinguishing feature of the body's activity is what is to be established as the meaning of the reason of wisdom and so forth. If there is no increase and decrease of the distinguishing feature of the mind's activity, but the cause of the increase of desire and so forth is seen from the body alone, then when the body grows, desire will increase, and hatred will arise from suffering. In that case, the reason is simply uncertain. That is not so, for in this way, growth and so forth increase desire and so forth. The first "and so forth" refers to suffering and so forth. In any case, at some times happiness and suffering arise. The increase of desire arises from happiness. The increase of hatred arises from suffering. By mentioning "at some times," it is not necessarily the case that desire and so forth arise from the growth of the body and so forth. Thus, even if it exists, desire and so forth are small due to the nature of the individual, or desire and so forth are not excellent due to the tamers such as discrimination. It is to be understood that even when there is the term "when there is growth and so forth," it is not actually so. Thus, even if the body has grown, as long as

As long as sentient beings do not attain inner peace, they will not be connected to greed. Similarly, as long as there is no discomfort in the mind, there will be no hatred. Inner peace and unease also come from happiness and suffering. And happiness and suffering arise from the balance of the body's elements. More broadly speaking, it also stems from the imbalance of the body's elements, and so on. The closer the difference in the tactile sensation of inner things, the more obvious the difference between happiness and suffering. Therefore, those who understand the difference in inner tactile sensations through the balance and imbalance of the body's elements will, depending on their environment, either benefit or harm the perception of tactile sensations. Whether it is beneficial or harmful, it will immediately affect subsequent cognition, thereby benefiting or harming the mind. From this, it can be seen that greed and hatred themselves arise in this way, and through this process, emotions such as greed gradually grow in the body. Similarly, by taking in nutrients and maintaining focus, one can recognize the importance of qualities such as mindfulness and concentration. Therefore, starting from the object or the senses, that is, the sensory basis of cognition, through benefiting or harming cognition, one can obtain a stable state of emotions such as greed. Just this does not mean that one can easily acquire the objects of these emotions, and since they are not the senses or the body, they are not inevitable. As mentioned earlier, through gathering and other methods, such as contact with mixed poisons, it can lead to memory loss, etc. For example, these are not the direct causes of the body's transformation. More broadly speaking, ignorance and mental distraction, etc., are also included. Why? Because the mind changes. Why is that? It refers to what is produced by the difference in inner things. The cognition produced by the difference in the tactile sensation of inner things is only an approximate expression, and the senses are also considered the basis of this cognition. And this basis also changes the perception of tactile sensations.
