Therefore, all things do not perish at any time. Is something by its very nature in a state of destruction, or is it not? If it has a self-destructive nature, then, since its nature is irreversible, it itself is to be destroyed, and if so, what is its sustainer? If that thing does not have a self-destructive nature, then, since it itself exists, what is its sustainer? Thus, in either case, it is not established by dependence. This also shows that the body and mind are not intimate, nor are they intimate things. For example, the excellence of the body declines, and even if the merits of the body do not increase or decrease, they will increase and decrease due to the difference in the function of the mind, and the difference in the function of the various consciousnesses of the mind. Wisdom and so on will also become excellent and decline. The mention of "etc." also includes love and compassion, as well as desirelessness, weariness and non-weariness, desire and hatred, ignorance, memory, and thoughts, etc. Without relying on the difference in the function of the body to increase and decrease, but through the difference in the function of the mind, in the way of increasing and decreasing, experiencing the Dharma of excellence and decline such as wisdom, this is not what the light of a lamp and so on have. What is it then? It is the increase and decrease of the function of the lamp and so on that causes the light and so on that are close to the lamp and so on to experience excellence and non-excellence, but it does not depend on its function, but changes with the increase and decrease. Combination means that through the difference of function, it increases and decreases, and without relying on the increase and decrease of the difference of function, experiencing excellence and decline without relying on it, that is not its close cause, nor is it another close cause, because
