The dharma of those who take closely and those who have close taking is this: if the close taking does not change, the changes of those who have close taking cannot be done. This is so, but in order for those who have close taking to change, whatever is desired, by obtaining the change of its close taking, it makes it change, otherwise it is not. What is it like? For example, a potter, unchangingly like a pot, etc. The close taking of a pot, etc., which has the nature of a potter who has been arranged into the shape of a pot, etc., unchangingly cannot make the changes of a pot, etc., like that. For example, the close taking of light becomes a lamp, if it is not made powerless, it cannot make the light into another form, like that. The combination is that whatever is taken closely by whatever, that unchangingly cannot make that change, for example, a potter unchangingly a pot, a lamp unchangingly light, like that. The body is also the close taking of the mind, saying that this is the determination of pervasive contradiction. Snakes, etc., also make the lamp powerless, and thus make the light unclear, like that, that is not separate from what is to be proven. Thus, if there is change, from the change of water, etc., the change of rice, etc., arises, but if water, etc., are not the close taking, then it is uncertain, if you say so. To that, water, etc., together do, helping arises, or completely decays, from this the difference of its function, color, etc., arises, or if it changes in reverse, it is not that continuity itself arises or ceases. Fire, etc., destroy the close taking, thus it is not uncertain because it is the cause of cessation. Therefore, whatever thing does not change, whatever thing transforms, that thing transforms, it is unreasonable that it is the close taking of that. What is it like? Like a cow and cow dung, etc. The cow itself does not change, cow dung, etc., changes, thus cow dung, etc., are not the close taking of the cow, like that. By saying "etc.", whatever makes something change unchangingly, that is not the close taking of that, for example,

Just as water, without changing, becomes fire, such water is not a proximate cause. Mind and body are the same. Actions that are not desirable, etc., produce changes characterized by unpleasantness, etc. Combination is, whatever is capable of obtaining change without changing, then at that time it is not a proximate cause, for example, water, etc., without changing, can produce fire. The consciousness is also capable of producing change without the body changing, which is called observing pervasive contradiction. If so, if those things that necessarily exist together, then these are the proximate cause and the things that have a proximate cause, such as a lamp and light. Body and mind must also exist together, which is considered a reason of nature, and I think this is the answer of epistemology. That is, in the case of "different causes existing together," it is like root consciousness and form, taste. Just like earth, water, fire, wind, and life, uncertain situations have also been discussed. Here, too, is an uncertain situation, because, as a result of having a cause, it is the cause of the body, has names such as softness, and is the characteristic of the state of the later body, the consciousness that produces this fruit is working together. Without it, the previous body together with the root consciousness cannot be connected to the same later body, therefore, because of the joint action, the body and consciousness exist simultaneously, because consciousness is not the proximate cause of the body. What is it like? It's like the melting of fire and copper. For example, when copper melts, the copper itself is the proximate cause, even so, in the state of melting, the fire is working together, so it is not certain. If it is said that fire is not a proximate cause because it does not necessarily exist simultaneously in all cases, then this has already been said about body and mind. If so, then there is no relationship of support and supported between body and mind. This also shows that the mind itself or qualities and generality, etc., are not the support of other things.
