It is the meaning of being the basis and needing to be understood. Therefore, saying "it is not what needs to be expressed" means it belongs to others. Indeed, expressing what needs to be proven is the state of being close to the prover and is the meaning that needs to be understood. Even so, it is said to be a characteristic that has the meaning of what needs to be proven, expressed, and understood. Why? Because by eliminating what needs to be proven and what does not need to be proven, those who wrongly compose treatises are refuted, and there is no confusion about what needs to be explained, because it is to eliminate confusion. The four characteristics of what needs to be proven, the four natures, are the four natures such as non-establishment and not being the prover. Regarding this, in the sutra of the characteristics to be inferred, it says: "Self-nature alone, with the word of intention, expresses the meaning of non-establishment and non-prover. The opponent's commitment should be taken." It should be understood accordingly. "By one's own nature" means to take it as unestablished. "By one's own nature alone" means it is not the prover. By the word "intention," it is what is objectified by intention. By the word "self-nature," it means to take what is intended to be proven by the state of establishing the prover. Here, the first two, because they only express things that do not touch the meaning, the meaning of the latter two, such as "expressing with meaning," is used to explain the meaning. Regarding this, here it is not expressed, it is objectified by intention. It is not what needs to be proven, therefore, pointing out faults through it is cutting off the rear, some say. In order to eliminate these, even if it is not expressed, intention pervades what needs to be proven. Like what? Like one's own benefit. For example, eyes and so on are doing things for others, here, even if it is not expressed that one's own benefit is what needs to be proven, it is like what needs to be proven. If, with the word "self-nature," the opponent's intended object to be proven is abandoned, and all other intentions are eliminated, therefore, the word "self-nature" shows the commitment without relying on the treatise, which shows the dependence of the previously committed treatise.

It causes confusion. Truly, by the word "self," even if all others' desires are dispelled, since it is promised in the treatise that all desires should be accomplished there, it will become a place of doubt. The commentary says that the word "self" is spoken, the place of doubt is what is said, it is the teacher himself. Wrong understanding will also appear. Therefore, those words of "I" are used for that meaning, and also to eliminate wrong understanding. If the debater intends to accomplish the desire itself, then the contradictions such as accomplishing the difference of dharma in a reversed way do not exist. If it is intended to accomplish a collection, then the accomplishment opposite to it should also be one, if it is said like that, it is true, that is, the accomplishment opposite to the collection is contradictory, because the collection itself is what should be accomplished. However, that which intends to accomplish one meaning, depending on the dharma and the possessor of dharma, the difference is what is said. The term called "deception," like the difference and the four differences, indicates the meaning of pointing out faults. If others do not say, how can one understand how to accomplish it? Like this, even if it is not said, it can be understood by desire, from the occasion, that is, from the occasion of debate. By making desire the object, therefore, its example of non-concomitance is also considered a fault, but merely saying without concomitance is not. Why? If someone says that, then it is said. Where, how is it said? The teacher Vasubandhu said, as it is said, if self and other are not established, it is also the same in the example. On that example, the fault of non-concomitance, desire is the harmer, because it will contradict. Furthermore, if with what is debated, with what meaning is debated, for example, whether I exist, in order to accomplish I, in establishing and negating, that is, in stating, the desire for I etc. appears, even if that is not what should be accomplished, then it should be said what should be accomplished. Otherwise, if that which is not the basis of debate and should be accomplished
