To clarify this, I will state the words I have seen, that is, what I have seen with my own eyes. What is to be proven is not established solely through scripture (आगम,āgama,Scripture, tradition). Why? Because, if that established conclusion, which has preceded in this way, is not established by means of valid cognition (प्रमाण,pramāṇa,cognitive tool, valid cognition), then that reason (हेतु,hetu, reason, cause) itself cannot be established, because it cannot be established solely through scripture. Therefore, if scripture is a word, then it enters through the power of things. For the object of inference, words are not considered valid cognition. If scripture is not valid cognition, then the reason established from scripture is not a reason. For example, for this object of scripture, inference cannot be established, or harmful things do not intervene, because what has already been established cannot be established again, and for what has been established by valid cognition, there is no harm. For the sake of complete examination and complete acceptance. If one commits after complete examination, then for what has been completely ascertained by valid cognition, other valid cognitions do not intervene. This is also not established by scripture. Therefore, in order to harm scripture and for other things, to indicate what is to be proven, if one speaks of establishing what harms scripture, then at that time that scripture is not valid cognition, because it is harmed by valid cognition. Therefore, it is established. If scripture is established, then the remaining reason cannot be established. If one says that scripture is established through possession, then it is both scripture and that, so it is that scripture. That scripture is also what is promised by whom, that is what possesses scripture. If that which possesses scripture, will that be able to be established? Even if the relationship is established, it may be established. For example, what becomes scripture through what? What together with what, this is this, if there is no valid cognition that establishes the relationship, because that does not have that, so the relationship does not exist. Furthermore, what is harmed by valid cognition itself, how is that scripture established? It will not be established. What is harmed by valid cognition, that means it is not scripture that is preceded by speculation. If one commits to what contradicts this, then how does it change by itself? If there is anything that contradicts scripture, then because it exists in that, that scripture itself will not be committed to. If one commits to something different from that, then relying on what is to be abandoned, it is abandoned, so it is not valid cognition, it will not change. If what is to be proven

If one admits something contradictory to me, then that scripture will be abandoned. In that way, when admitting, because it is the cause of abandoning that scripture, it is not a part of understanding. Therefore, what is established by it is not established as a reason. Therefore, because the reason is not established, it is not a valid means of cognition for what is to be understood. Therefore, what is to be established by it is not to be established by a valid means of cognition, that is the meaning. Furthermore, if the proponent establishes something slightly, then he will state what he himself knows. That is, for what is to be established, such as happiness, etc., by the birth, etc., admitted by others, as being without mind. The proponent will change by some parts of what he himself knows, and by the certainty for himself, he can also establish others. If it is not so, when he says, "By knowing, I am not establishing the absence of mind," then his words will become a joke. Therefore, from where does self-knowledge arise? From which valid cognition does the knowledge of the Samkhya's absence of mind arise? Why not speak of the establisher? Why not state it for the sake of showing the establisher? By means of scripture, one states the views of others. In that way, what is admitted by oneself and others is the establisher. If I say that I do not admit that happiness, etc., are without mind by the birth, etc., that are already established for others, then what is it? Because it comes from one's own scripture, etc., therefore, one does not state the reason to others. Whose scripture is that? It has already been said. Reason is to be combined with scripture, for the sake of fully examining and fully accepting. In this regard, if the proponent says that that scripture is to be held by reason or fame, then by which scripture will he establish the absence of mind? If it is by reason, then by which reason is the scripture held? Why is what is to be shown not held by this reason? Why is it not the holder? Furthermore, that which establishes the absence of mind will become the holder of what is admitted. In that way, saying that birth, etc., are the establisher is powerless and meaningless. If it is not to be held by reason,
