It is not experienced on the ground. What is it then? Because suffering and so on appear there and become the object, it becomes its direct perception, but it is not a personal experience. From what does compassion and benefit arise? If there is no experience of suffering and so on, there is no cause for compassion and benefit. Without personally experiencing suffering and so on, there is no cause for compassion and benefit. What is it then? Because it is born as the nature of suffering, it is tormented by suffering. If that is the case, when the self is suffering, in some continuums the self appears as suffering, it is the compassion that appears as the self, but it is not known in that way as an object. Suffering and so on arise in other continuums or in one's own continuum, it is what is grasped, but it is not the compassion of the consciousness that takes as object and grasps. At that time, what we show to others, that is, others take suffering as an object, and also become suffering, that will not become a fault. Because in that way it is only an object, not a personal experience. Therefore, the object and experience of all knowledge are different. The meaning of the object is also different, and the meaning of the experience is also different, this is a summary statement. How to understand it? What is similar to things is the object, because it becomes the object, so it is the object, that is, what arises from things and is similar to it is the meaning of the object. Self is awareness, self is only the difference of self. Self is awareness and experience, different from other dharmas. What is it like? It is bright, that is, the nature of complete brightness, is the nature of understanding, this is a summary statement. In the nature of self-awareness, self arises and experiences, for example, brightness arises as the nature of brightness, and is itself brightness. Similarly, the arising of suffering and so on is itself experience, therefore experience is not other. Furthermore, there is no direct perception, consciousness is known from the sign. If consciousness is not direct perception, then it will be known from the sign. That sign is also the sense, or form and so on, or one's own consciousness, or the previous attention, is the aspect of the mind that previously had the ability.
