It will change. Other causes can be inferred. If it is said that the other cause is the "meaning" here, if this is the case, if the "meaning" can be established, then it should be recognized through inference, not through direct perception. Even so, how can it be proven that it is different from the consciousness you desire? In this way, when can the external object be established? If it is said that the consciousness theorists do not necessarily have to immediately speak from similar causes, nor do they necessarily have to say that the essence of the habits produced by the consciousness that manifests the desired meaning is completely mature, and through attention, the wisdom of children can enter. The meaning is that the transformation and non-transformation of the fruit are caused by the awakening and non-awakening of the habits that produce this consciousness. If it is said that from the existence or non-existence of consciousness with the manifestation of meaning, it can be inferred that the cause exists without difference, then this is to establish on the basis of what has been established. If it is not like this, then it is not established, if it is like this, then from the transformation of the fruit, how can the meaning be inferred? If it is said that when the external object does not exist, the sprout that appears from the seed is false, because it is non-existent, so it is neither the author nor the fruit. Then, how to establish the author who produces the sprout from the seed? Because there is no causal relationship between the appearance of the seed and the sprout. Similarly, for those who say fire and smoke, the substance of cause and effect is also unreasonable. It is not the knowable and the knower. If the external object exists, then the external fire exists, and it is the cause of the smoke, so the smoke can become the knower of the fire. Even in consciousness-only, when smoke is recognized, fire does not exist, so how can the knower be established, and fire is established from smoke? If it is said that for the external object, all establishments such as the author are in vain, then there is no fault in this, just like the sprout is produced from the seed.

Furthermore, that which exists relying on external objects, and the designation of knowing that fire arises from smoke, if it does not rely on external objects, but relies on the cognition of things, that is, appearing as its nature, appearing as sprouts, etc. Thus, that which is definitely arising, from the consciousness appearing as differences such as seeds, immediately arises, and the consciousness appearing as sprouts, etc., is called that. If such a one, when indicated by consciousness, is understood, then what contradiction is there? There is none at all. Just as a sprout arises from a seed, it is separate in terms of things. If relying on the establishment of the result, if there is a consciousness appearing as a seed as the cause, then the consciousness appearing as a sprout arises, and when it is understood, there is no contradiction with valid cognition. This establishment relying on external objects is indeed difficult to indicate, because the meaning is not established. The fault of arising from one establishment relying on another establishment does not apply here either, so what harm is there? Although it can be transformed in this way, smoke is not produced by fire. As said, the establishment of knowing relying on consciousness is indeed contradictory. In this way, if there is first a consciousness appearing as smoke, and then a consciousness appearing as fire, then the former is not the result and the latter is not the cause. At that time, if there is no external fire, then there is no consciousness appearing in internal experience, from what can it be understood that the consciousness appearing as smoke is the result? Thus, smoke is not produced by fire. Therefore, from the result, it is not possible to know smoke as the cause. Thus, it cannot be known. If the consciousness appearing as smoke is understood as the cause of the consciousness appearing as fire, at that time, although the consciousness appearing as smoke is the cause, if the inference of the result is obtained from the cause, at that time, also because the causes cannot be determined, from what can it be determined?
