Then, saying "that was the object at that time" is also not true. Why? Because, like this, names etc. are prior: If names etc. are spoken, then the speaker, the listener, what is said, have consequentiality, names etc. do not have relatedness, they will not enter into meaning. Like this etc. has already been prevented. However, this discriminating consciousness will enter through effort, the order of consciousnesses is meaningless. Other than that, even if there are causes such as the power of the senses, even if the meaning is close, they will not arise. If the discriminating consciousness also becomes meaningful, then it will not arise merely through effort. Like this, the nature related only to desire is: only desire has consequentiality, because it is a follower of following and returning. The activity of meaning has the power for this, the power of meaning will not be accomplished. Thus, from where do some meanings become objects? The aspect of the object of consciousness that focuses on the past is higher, experience is the aspect of the object, then from where does this come? Like this, if such a consciousness is memory, then it appears as the meaning of the past. Any mental consciousness is memory. That also arises from the experience itself. Memory also arises from a very clear experience. If it is thought that experience is empty of the aspect of meaning, then memory corresponds to it, how can it be the aspect of meaning? Thus, from the experience that is empty of the aspect of meaning, memory with the aspect of that meaning will not arise. The connection is that the memory of the dharma that arises from anything that is empty of the aspect of meaning will also not become the aspect of that meaning, for example, the memory of cloth that arises from the experience of cloth empty of a vase is also not with the aspect of a vase. The memory of blue also arises from the experience that is empty of blue, this is the observation of pervasive contradiction. If memory does not arise from experience. Then what is it? If it is said that it arises from meaning, then memory is from meaning

It does not arise. Why is it that at the time of recollection, things are both ineffective and non-existent? Recollection arises from things, which is absurd. From where does the aspect of things come? If it is said that it arises from the object, so it is made by it, then in that way it changes from experience. If it is said that because it arises from the object, recollection has the aspect of the object, then arising from the existence of the object is the same as experiencing the object, so experiencing the object also becomes having the aspect of the object. The aspects of blue and so on appear separately in recollection, but that aspect of things is also absent. This is not reasonable. Why? Because it lacks the aspect of clarity. The clear aspect of things appears in seeing, and if it is held by consciousness, it will appear that way. In this way, consciousness appears to be devoid of the aspect of clarity for the object to be held. Also, the word "also" should be connected in order, because it has no meaning, so there is no aspect of things either. If the object to be held by consciousness becomes a different thing, then when someone recollects, how does one understand that aspect? Thus the aspects are different. Others will know. When someone understands, because there is no certainty, it is not different. Thus, although it may change, if it is the thing itself, then just as one does not hold what exists within one's own body, for me, the nature of the thing to be held by consciousness is related, therefore, if it is always related to me, then others will not understand, and even if one speaks, it cannot be understood. When asked, "What are you thinking?" when speaking to others, even from the sound, one cannot know what is being thought, and others will not understand. Because it can be understood, it is not that others cannot hold it because it is related to me. Furthermore, it is reasonable not to hold something that exists in another's body, because the body's senses themselves are objects of contact. The eye is also definite. Thus, consciousness is not like that, because it is not an object of contact.
