Etc. indicate that their views are the same. What is said to be self-awareness is not the result. However, the action named "holding onto the self, that is, knowing," as an actor, the nature of complete severance is expressed by the word "consciousness." The nature of complete severance itself is a valid measure because it is feasible, and self-awareness is an excellent explanation. Other names do not make the meaning different. In order to excellently prove the two ways of wisdom. From the wisdom of the object, two ways arise from the difference. Etc., because they want to explain the quoted scripture, they said "all consciousness," etc. "All consciousness, its nature as it is, because it arises from objects. Apart from that, even if there are causes such as roots other than objects. It will become caused by the objects of the nature of various things. If you ask how, for example, food and time, etc., are the cause of producing a son, but the son will also hold the image of the father in some way. If the father and mother are the cause of the son, even so, it will not follow the image of both. Then what is it? From the parents, it will only hold the image of the father or mother, just as it is not some others. Apart from that, it will not hold the image of food, etc. By saying "etc.," it includes unseen things, etc., other than that. Apart from that, roots, etc., and objects, even if they are the same as the cause of consciousness, but because they follow the appearance of that dharma, they consider the object itself to be, and admit it. When it is meaningless, when following the appearance of the object, the object itself will not become an object like the roots, etc. For the meaningful mind, there will also be doubt that things do not exist. If that is the case, through the just past appearance, the two ways of wisdom are established. Even so, it should be said that from the eye consciousness, etc., which has objects, the ultimate truth that has become other things, and the knowledge that has the object of complete imputation.

For those, there will also be doubts as to whether they have the aspect of meaning. For example, is this knowledge possessed of the aspect of meaning or not? When the consciousness of conceptualization observes past things, at that time, the object of that consciousness, the appearing aspect is one, and the experiencing aspect is another, there is no such doubt. At that time, the form that appears as an object now cannot be included in the non-existent thing of the past itself. The form is mind, therefore it is not experience, in that case, self-knowledge is not experience, therefore, the nature of knowledge experience is also not denied. Therefore, the mind of conceptualization, when holding on to past things, the two ways of the mind, self-awareness is established. Although that may happen, when one wants the past mind, it is not holding on to things, because things have forms, how can the two ways be established? So what is it? Even if it is considered a hidden nature, there is a lineage that does not perish, observing it, that is meaningful, and knowledge is also free from doubts about the form of meaning, if you say so, that does not exist. Why? Because blue and other forms are different. The consciousness that holds the past, for the various productions and appearances of blue and so on, and the lineage of the blue form that appears in connection with what follows does not exist. That is not possessed of it. Knowledge is not the thing that appears as blue and so on, lineage is not the object. However, if the lineage is permanent or impermanent? If it is impermanent, because they are different, and their natures are different, just as they appear, they will not become lineage, because lineage is of the same nature. If it is permanent, even if it is permanent, how can it produce an effect? Because it has already been explained that the permanence of consciousness itself is not the agent. Not being able to produce an effect is also not an object, in that case, nothing works, lineage is not an object. So what is it? Non-associated formations, name or thing or the meaning of the sign.
