That which is without function is not an agent, like the memory of the past by eye-consciousness. Eye-consciousness also cannot perform the action of connecting meanings through the way of understanding before and after, which is called the contradictory point of pervasive action. Furthermore, for other things that have mind, the eye can see various forms. For other meanings such as the past that transcend the meaning of manifestation, those with mind, even if the past etc. are mixed with their own names and thought about, the present forms etc. are seen and grasped by the consciousness of the eye sense. However, conceptualization cannot see that meaning, because conceptualization cannot recognize that it has abandoned the function of expressing the past meaning and combines the present meaning with the name, therefore it will fall into error. When the present meaning is mixed with the name, there is no other conceptualization, because conceptualization itself does not occur simultaneously.

If it is not seeing the meaning of the external realm of the knowing consciousness, then the meaning of the external realm also becomes visible. Therefore, it will not be combined with its object either. How can those consciousnesses born from the senses not be the objects of the meaning of sound? Because sound and meaning, past and so on, are also a kind of expression for it. Combination means, if it is past, what will happiness become? Happiness is not certain in its own nature, for example, even if there is no lamp, there is still the consciousness of the ear. The cessation of sound is also because the things used, past and destroyed, etc., even if they exceed the object of the senses, will change, which is called the contradictory place of pervasiveness. Therefore, it is not holding the meaning mixed with sound. Furthermore, if conceptualization itself is direct perception, then, when this person appears to be facing form, he will see form, called form. At that time, its object, which has the nature of holding form and so on. What is visible wisdom? It is not visible. If that is the case, because the consciousness of conceptualization enters form, form itself becomes direct perception. Its consciousness is not. If consciousness also enters in the same way, then, like form, there is no conceptualization when seeing form. Even if there is its experience, it cannot be said that there is not. In this way, because the experience is not established at the time of seeing, so, what you think, "The form I see is that, the form I see is this", even if direct perception and conceptualization enter together, it will not change, and conceptualization will also appear. Therefore, if there is its experience, then one has to admit it against one's will. Therefore, that experience is non-conceptual, because there is the fault as mentioned before, and if it is not direct perception, then it will be inferred that meaning is also not direct perception. When conceptualization holds form, because it does not focus on seeing form, so, that experience, the wisdom of form, according to your doctrine, how can it become non-conceptual? If it is not direct perception without conceptualization, then it will also become without conceptualization, therefore, only without conceptualization is direct perception.

It is not so. If it is experienced by itself, then, by what consciousness of form can one hold the meaning related to the conceptualization of form, such as 'form is like this'? If it is experienced by that consciousness itself, then, the very nature of that consciousness should also hold seeing form, 'seeing form is like this.' If one admits this, then it is unreasonable for the conceptualization itself to experience seeing. In that case, for the object and its experience, if there is no simultaneous arising of two conceptualizations, how can that be established? This explains that the nature of the conceptualization of the object of the consciousness of form and its own experience cannot arise simultaneously. It should be understood that this is answering a question. What is it? Simultaneous consciousness is experienced by another. The consciousness of conceptualization, which arises simultaneously with the sense consciousness, is experienced by another consciousness, namely the consciousness of form, which is holding, because two conceptualizations are not seen simultaneously. That which arises later also becomes 'I saw form,' because at that time, the seeing has ceased, the seeing has become past, and the conceptualization arises. Then, that memory, which was not previously held, and without experience, how can it be established? It is simply impossible. If one wants to completely determine the past seeing with a conceptualization that arises later, then, just like the obscured consciousness related to another continuum, for oneself, even if the seeing of form etc. has ceased, there is no difference in the complete determination of other consciousnesses. Having the nature of complete determination and non-difference of entity. It becomes the consciousness of one's own consciousness, because there is no difference for the experience of obscured and non-past consciousnesses residing in one's own and others' continua. If seeing residing in another's continuum is consciousness, then it also becomes consciousness residing in one's own continuum, but that is not possible, because such a consciousness arises, namely, in another way, each one experiences with awareness, 'this is my seeing of form.'
