It should be known that the verbal consciousness with the object of the existing pot is not an object of reality. Moreover, whatever consciousness appears without distinction from the consciousness with the meaning of what exists and what does not, that is not an object of reality. For example, like the second consciousness with the object of the past, which appears without distinction from the consciousness with the meaning of non-existence. Now, the statement that the consciousness arising from the word with the object as the object also appears without distinction from the consciousness of the past and future with the meaning of non-existence is a contradiction to the existence of pervasiveness. If one does not admit that the past and the future are completely non-existent, then what he considers to be the nature of the stage that can function is not present in the past and the future, so the black reason or metaphor is not established. Even if it changes like that, but because it only holds the general characteristic, the two minds are the same. Now, the consciousness arising from the word with the pot as the object, and the consciousness with the object of the past, etc., with the meaning of non-existence, those two consciousnesses appear to be the same only in general, which means without distinction. Its meaning is this: it is just holding the general characteristic like this. In this way, the consciousness arising from the word with the pot as the object now is also only the general object, so when the pot is destroyed, the consciousness arising from the word also holds the independently existing general characteristic, because in the previous, subsequent, and intermediate stages, it is admitted that the independent general characteristic of the pot is the reason for the consciousness arising from the word. If it is said that all the consciousnesses aroused by words appear to be the same, then that is not reasonable, because even that one general characteristic does not need to rely on manifestation, if so, it is neither the same nor manifest. Etc., therefore, holding is completely reversed. If the word holds the independently existing general characteristic, then the manifest general characteristic will be manifested by manifestation. Because arising and realization are not determined by other independence, it has been explained before that the independently existing general characteristic is not held. Therefore, this is not an answer.

Furthermore, in order to show that because it is a universal, it is not a thing. It is said, "Things that are mutually different," and so on. For the time being, even if it is undoubtedly considered that there is no difference, difference should be admitted in some aspects, because this is its basis. Whoever considers movement to be one also considers dust, darkness, and power to be different, and that they have mind and are without mind is mutually acknowledged. Likewise, for other things, in some aspects, from situations and so on, it is also different, so it is impossible to deny difference, so things are different. How can things that are mutually different become the nature of the universal of the difference of things? It will not change. Having difference and not having difference, these two natures that exist mutually exclusively, cannot exist in one thing. If it is the nature of having difference, then it is not the nature of the universal. The argument is that whatever has contradictory natures is not the nature of one, just like the nature of happiness and suffering being determined separately. Having difference and not having difference, these non-categories are also contradictory, which refers to the pervasive contradiction. Even if there are two natures, if a thing has two natures of having difference and not having difference, then how can it be one thing? From not having difference, difference is other, so it becomes two things, not one thing. Therefore, whatever things have difference, if it is considered that they are the same nature, then from it, it, that is, the nature of the universal, will become other. In this way, the universal cannot be without difference. Even if it changes like that, if it is the same like that, then whose universal has no difference, that is its fault, who is the one with difference that is different from the appearance, from them, not having difference is other. However, the two that have universality are the same, that is, having the nature of universality and no difference.

If so, if that is the case, then, things that possess generality should mutually confer benefits, and not be those that confer benefits, therefore, there is no real connection called generality between them, which is not permissible. If this is admitted, then it has also been stated again by the phrase "other things that have a connection are also not the same as other things." If this is the case, then it is not permissible for generality to become a thing and be different from other things. For negation, there is no refutation. Because anything that is merely a means of distinguishing other things as generality, then it is not a thing, so there is no fault of "being other" and "not being other," and for all things, the distinction is the same. Thus, just as the threatening gesture of one finger is different from the thumb, the remaining fingers are also different from it. Whatever is different from one thumb is no different from what is not a thumb, because it is the basis of the name of no difference, and it is not the nature of distinction. Therefore, it is not the basis of having a changing state of "being other" and "not being other." Because if it is generality itself, then it is not the nature of a thing, therefore it is similarity. This generality is the characteristic of non-things. Because things do not have similarity, this is the conclusion. Furthermore, whatever generality becomes a thing, is it a result? Or is it not a result? If it is a result, then because it has birth, it will become multiple due to its nature being other and other. Therefore, if the characteristic of generality—singularity—is lost, then it is not desired that it be destroyed. If generality also becomes impermanent due to the power of being a result, then it is not desired that it be impermanent. Therefore, one who says that generality is a thing should not admit that it is a result. Furthermore, destruction is only related to things, and subsequent connections, therefore it is momentary. It has been stated that destruction is only related to things. Therefore, if generality is a thing, then it will undoubtedly be destroyed. If it is not so, then it will become non-things. Thing
