If it is a generality, it is not a permanence. Even if it is not a permanence, it is not a plurality, therefore it is not a generality. However, if it is not a result, then there is no connection between the kinds, because it is not a result. Generalities, together with those that possess them, are not allowed to have the relationship of 'this is this'. Dependence is called a result. This has already been said in such cases. Kinds, because they are without essence and not results, are without inherent existence. Whatever has arising is inherent existence, otherwise it is not. What is not a result is not to be produced, and generality does not exist. This also shows that the object of knowledge arising from sound is not a thing, just as the knowledge arising from the power of things, such as eye consciousness, does not depend on terms and the memory of terms. What is it then? It is the state of arising from the mere proximity of the thing itself. Generality is those in the mind, not depending on terms, and the appearance does not change. However, depending on the memory of terms, generality becomes the mind, and as such it is not the object of things. Combination is also like that, whatever is the object of knowledge that depends on the memory of terms is not a thing, for example, the main meaning of sound, or for example, the meaning of sound, all things are in a state of impermanence and destruction, or the meaning of sound is aggregation and so on. The meaning of the sound of cow etc. is also not the object of knowledge that depends on the memory of terms, this is the observation of the contradiction of pervasion. If one sees a clear difference, sees a spotted cow, and sees a horse etc. without remembering the name of the cow, he will not say, 'This is the same as what I saw before,' but seeing a crow, without any doubt about any difference, he will say, 'This is it,' and the knowledge of generality arises without depending on terms. Therefore, if it is thought that it is caused by seeing generality, then the reason is not established. But it is not so, just as some minds see things themselves with the same result,
