Furthermore, it does not change. If it is said that it changes because the general (concept) is imperishable, it is not so, because there is no attachment to the purely general (concept). Precisely for this reason, there is no attachment to things that have dependence, and so on. Therefore, even if the knowledge of the characteristics of the general (concept) is only a result, it is because it is fully shown that it has no function. Substance and lifting and the general (concept) and numbers, etc., by saying "etc." includes having and distinguishing, etc., and those arising from the conventional. What is said and shown is any wisdom. For example, following the existence and non-existence of a vase, etc., is not allowed, therefore, that is not their result. Why? Because of conventions, etc., and the inner limbs following. Conventions, etc., are conventions in the mind. By saying "etc." it includes following in the mind. The inner limbs are inner. Following is following. Because the inner reasons for grasping conventions and conventions that follow this, follow existence and non-existence. The discriminating wisdom of vases, etc., changes, but it does not come from the external substance of vases, etc., this is the meaning to be expressed. External hand lifting, etc., just from seeing, doesn't the wisdom of lifting, etc., change? If you say, how can you say because of conventions, etc., and being related to the inner limbs? That fault does not exist, because for that, it is clinging to the nature of phenomena such as form, etc., which arise with other objects and others, it is not that knowledge arises from the follower of lifting, etc., and the follower of returning, without seeing the agent. Similarly, one should combine appropriately for distinctions, etc. Therefore, here, seeing objects with form, etc., and such differences, is not something that can be refuted. The discriminating knowledge of the object of lifting, etc., is called the objectless. If it is said that if there is a reason without relying on things, then the object from which wisdom arises is the general (concept), in this case, if hair, etc., have no function, and there are other causes such as targets, etc., then it is blurred.

If those with eye ailments perceive things like hair, and their perception changes, does that mean tangled hair and the like become universals? Hair and such are not universals. Why? Because there is no attachment to their true meaning. Those with eye ailments do not enter the path of language by considering the tangled hair and the like that appear in their own perception as real objects. Therefore, one should not analyze objects with universal and particular characteristics. This analysis should be done on those who attach names and cling to objects. The argument is: if the world manifestly clings to the nature of a certain object and does not name it as knowable, then it is not the nature of that object, like an ox and a horse. The hair and the like seen by those with eye ailments are also not named because the world manifestly clings to the nature of certain knowables such as universals. Whether this is pervasive is uncertain. If it is not a universal because the world manifestly clings to the object itself and does not name it, then it will not become a non-existent universal, because there is no attachment to the object itself? To that, because there is no nature of a universal. It will not be a fault to become non-existent. Why? Because it is regarded as knowable. If, again, there is no naming because of attachment to the nature of a non-existent thing, then it is also naming as knowable. Not only things are knowable, because non-existent things also act as objects in only one way. Those things are also like that. If, again, like non-existent things, those with eye ailments want to regard the hair and the like they see as knowable by other cognitions, then, because there is no obstruction to thinking that way, it is considered to be the nature of a universal. However, for whichever cognition, if the cognition in which those things appear separately does not regard them as knowable, then it is not a universal. If what is seen by those with eye ailments and so on is not a thing, then how does it appear? It is said: Hair and the like are merely clear appearances. Because the nature of cognition is reality. Because the nature of cognition is the cause of its own characteristics. The nature of cognition, hair and the like, appears clearly.
